Title: Podcasts Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, 18:37:57 Is it easy enough to download podcasts to an SD card as mp3?
After the Peter Crouch ones in particular. Any other decent podcast suggestions? Find they help me take my mind off other matters. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, 18:50:17 Any of the TED talks are pretty good. I'm sure CH4s Unreported World have a few. Depends what you're escaping from and trying to focus on.
Hope all ok. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: pauld on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, 20:38:59 Is it easy enough to download podcasts to an SD card as mp3? Not sure about the MP3 bit but Price of Football is quite good, if a bit nerdy. Daily Football on BBC Sounds is usually OK. Away from football, Infinite Monkey Cage is excellent if you like scientific stuff explained simply and humorously. After the Peter Crouch ones in particular. Any other decent podcast suggestions? Find they help me take my mind off other matters. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, 20:59:26 Forgot Monkey Cage. Great suggestion!
Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: michael on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, 22:53:28 Athletico Mince, and Elis James & John Robins routinely have me in stitches. For football, Quickly Kevin Will He Score is pure 90s nostalgia.
Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, 22:56:05 Yeah, Elis and John's stuff is great. A whole XFM back catalogue too.
Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: michael on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 08:06:30 Not gone through it yet, slightly intimidated by the sheer volume tbh.
The "Sat Nav" Shamewell I know though and that is prime #content Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 09:29:40 I've got into my podcasts recently - pretty much all football ones mind you.
Guardian Football Weekly, Totally Football Show and the Football Ramble are my go to Pods for football analysis. (Although the Football Ramble has a really irritating Geordie on it who I suspect maybe marmite for people) NTT20 and Going up Going Down podcast for the non-premier league chat. Athletico Mince, Quickly Kevin will he score and the Peter Crouch podcast for the more humerous side of the game. And finally the creme de la menthe of Podcasts; The Loathed Strangers, for all your STFC requirements. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: pauld on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 09:48:37 And finally the creme de la menthe of Podcasts; The Loathed Strangers, for all your STFC requirements. OMG how did I miss that off? Blimey!Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 09:53:03 OMG how did I miss that off? Blimey! Its a finely guarded secret. Should probably be discussing this in the private area really! ;) Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Flashheart on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 10:17:06 The loathed what now?
Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Richie Wellen-Dowd on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 10:54:02 The loathed what now? The loathed stranger, because we don't know him but we do hate him ;D I listen to Joe Rogan when he has someone interesting on. They tend to be a bit long and tail off towards the end. I rarely listen to one all the way through. I tried to download some Adam Buxton ones to listen to at work. Can't seem to work out how to download from his website or app though. Don't want to rinse my data too much while I'm on site. Any ideas? Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: horlock07 on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 11:37:53 I've got into my podcasts recently - pretty much all football ones mind you. (Although the Football Ramble has a really irritating Geordie on it who I suspect maybe marmite for people) Suggesting that someone from Hartlepool is a Geordie would get you murdered in those parts, Pete Donaldson is an acquired taste, actually the spin off Luke and Pete show is pretty good for randomness. My pod listening has reduced now my commute has changed from 1.5 hours each way to c.30 dsecs each way. However still do... 'The New European' doesn't take it self too seriously if you are a remainer; 'Friday Night Comedy' form the BBC 'Great Lives' from the BBC Beyond that for me its cycling and horse racing ones which are perhaps a little niche! Well he comes across as a Newcastle fan so is a geordie in my eyes! I did try the Luke and Pete show, but it just allowed him a platform to be even more irritating. A shame as I think Luke Moore is a good broadcaster. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Nemo on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 11:54:51 Well he comes across as a Newcastle fan so is a geordie in my eyes! I did try the Luke and Pete show, but it just allowed him a platform to be even more irritating. A shame as I think Luke Moore is a good broadcaster. Interestingly I find Luke far more irritating as he takes himself more seriously than the format (and has a habit of saying 'if I could just finish my point' when he dominates most of the discussion). Do like the Ramble though, not least because they had a whole bit on how shit Gillingham was and challenging people to disagree (almost nobody did). Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Abrahammer on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 11:59:42 I too find Pete annoying and a bit of an idiot, comes across as a class clown. Other than that its a very decent listen.
Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Cookie on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 12:08:53 Off menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster is brilliant.

Do like the Ramble though, not least because they had a whole bit on how shit Gillingham was and challenging people to disagree (almost nobody did). I was going to say likewise, Luke just talks over the top of everyone and whilst he often has a decent point to make its just irritating, he is also pretty sketchy on lower league stuff despite being a Portsmouth supporter, but horses for courses I suppose... Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Costanza on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 12:33:03 Football
I need to drop one of Extra/Totally/Ramble. Luke irks me more than Pete, Luke has gone full blown TalkSport in recent years. Saw Ramble Live about 4/5 years ago and they put way more effort into the show than the Richardson Guardian era live event did. Quickly Kevin is great but there was a definite dip in the last series. Set-Piece Menu is really good and I've enjoyed Adam Hurrey's Football Cliches pod for The Athletic. Interview I pick and choose based on the guest with Marc Maron and Conan O'Brien but Adam Buxton and Richard Herring are the best UK equivalents. History Pick and choose with Dan Snow's History Hit. I really like James Holland and Al Murray's WW2 pod 'We Have Ways'. I like Greg Jenner's 'You're Dead to Me' and Russell Kane's 'Evil Genius' but my word doesnt Kane ever like to remind us that he's from the estate!? Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Leggett on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 12:51:22 If you like heavier music, The Downbeat is an excellent listen. Fella called Craig Reynolds, Reading-born drummer for many fine bands.
Distraction Pieces is a good listen too, many really good guests on there. The Horne Section podcast has had me in stitches, thoroughly recommend that one. Blood on the tracks, music podcast with Colin Murray. Smershpod, Bond-focused podcast is really good as well. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: bullethead on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 13:06:46 'The Loathed Strangers' ... goes without syaing
'No Such Thing as a Fish' for fact / trivia based humour 'My Dad Wrote a Porno' was very funny when I first listened but has probably run it's course now Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: horlock07 on Thursday, February 6, 2020, 13:39:51 If you like heavier music, The Downbeat is an excellent listen. Probably says more about me than you, but I read that initially as 'If you like beaver music'!! :hmmm: Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Leggett on Friday, February 7, 2020, 13:30:21 https://youtu.be/aYDfwUJzYQg

Fella called Craig Reynolds, Reading-born drummer for many fine bands. +1 for The Downbeat. Craig rubs people up the wrong way sometimes but it's a good listen. Also for heavy / alternative music, the Sappenin podcast with Sean Smith formerly of the Blackout. A really good (and EXTREMELY Welsh) listen. Their podcast with ex Lostprophets guitarist was a really good listen - particularly when they went quite in depth on Ian Watkins. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Friday, February 7, 2020, 18:12:39 If u like serial killers and unsolved murders Crime Junkie and Strange Matters are the podcasts for you An old one but still great for anyone who hasn't listened to it. Serial: The Case of Adnan Sayeed. Think they have made a film/documentary about it since. The Podcast is great though, delivered by an investigative journalist who looked into the case. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Leggett on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, 13:41:24 Last year the BBC World Service did a podcast series called 13 Minutes to the Moon, a minute-by-minute disection of the decent to the lunar surface by the Apollo 11 crew to mark the 50th anniversary, it was a fascinating listen, really enjoyed it, definitely check it out if you haven't.
This year, they're going through Apollo 13 mission, episode one dropped yesterday. Get on it! Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Nemo on Monday, October 26, 2020, 11:51:43 90s Football Podcast Quickly Kevin (with Josh Widdicombe et al) this week has Ivo Graham on talking about Swindon in the 90s and specifically the That's Football documentary from 1992. Right up my niche, and I suspect a lot of people on here's too.

Ivo is on our (Ex) London Reds watsapp group and is a great guy very passionate about STFC. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Nemo on Monday, October 26, 2020, 11:54:46 The WhatsApp group gets a mention! Right up my niche, and I suspect a lot of people on here's too. This was written about before the podcast's first episode gotso I'm really surprised it's taken so long to be published. I'll be giving it a listen when I get some spare time, with no lengthy commute now it's rare to get a quiet enough hour to listen to them. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Ginginho on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, 05:58:08 Cool, cheers I’ve added that to my list of podcasts. I’m running every day in November so am saving up some of the podcasts 👍🏻

Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: michael on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, 10:03:22 Not STFC related but Neville Southall on the 'Quickly Kevin Will He Score' podcast was very very entertaining! Really enjoyed Big Nev's story about Big Dunc. The whole episode had an "after dinner speech" feel to it, which was not unwelcome. Title: Re: Podcasts Post by: Sippo on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, 16:47:49 Neville Southall was hilarious not so much for Andy Townsend.
