I seem to remember him being a bit of a scapegoat during his time here, although that recollection could have been heightened because of the 'nico mafia' defending him online whenever he was criticised, leading to a lot of verbal spats. Will be interested to listen when I get the chance.

I don’t remember him being a scapegoat but I certainly don’t remember him being particularly highly rated other than his first season with us.

I think the likes of Duke and Hewlett had it worse than him. Maybe even Gurney. Jenkins? We had a lot of scapegoats back then.

Abiding memory for me was seeing him score an absolute screamer at Exeter in the the tinpot trophy

Duke definitely had it worse. On the left of midfield he was fairly useful too, but as a left back? Oh my lord.

It was probably just J1mmy and the like being cretins online with Nico, and his family feeling they had to defend him.

I think him, Jim and maybe Lloyd were all family.

I think Santini was his Dad and Jim was definitely his uncle.

I spoke to Jim a few times at away games. Decent enough chap...

I thought Nicho was a decent player at the time. Was he not well liked then?

Me too and he seemed popular enough with fans I actually knew. But IIRC there was a certain section of online trolls that seemed to take a dislike to him, then went out of their way to be offended/outraged by every little mistake he made. Unsurprisingly, if you look hard enough at most L1 players for errors, you'll find enough to keep you going if that's what you're after.

I only recently started listening to this podcast after months of "Ah yeah, I must check it out!....". The Andy Nicholas one was the first for me, and it brought back so many memories!!

I always really liked Nico growing up, probably because I was/am a left back myself, and it was great to hear all of the behind the scenes stuff that goes on.

I've since listened to a few others - Top work, really enjoying it.

I liked Jenkins, mostly because he had the whole "guitarist in the Super Furry Animals" look going on.

I remember Duke getting dog's abuse whatever happened, don't really remember Nicho ever getting any bother. Took a shine to an old TEF member's other half though, correct?

I remember hearing rumours he was an alcoholic or at least went out and got pissed a lot. Is anyone able to shed any light on these rumours? Haven’t listened to the podcast yet btw.
