Title: Forest Green Away
Post by: Langers on Thursday, December 5, 2019, 13:38:04
As expected this has sold out before making it to general sale.

If anyone hears of two tickets going spare then please give me a shout.

Cheers.

There’s going to be hundreds of Town fans in the home end so just go in there, it’s not going to be far off a 50/50 split of fans.

Already looked, FGR aren’t selling tickets to you unless you have registered before 1st August..

It’ll change once they have a couple of thousand left to sell in the week before the game. Or get one of the Stroud based town fans to go to the ground and get tickets.

Is there a hill near the ground?  :)

Might be about to see something from Nympsfield Road but it’s not like Wycombe where you can literally see everything.

Yeah hopefully, will keep an eye out. Thought I’d put it out there just incase tho.

Bugger.

I don't know why they can't give us the covered terrace behind the goal. I've never seen more than 10 FG fans in there.

From those who are going or have been before, train to Stroud then cab? Best to drink in Stroud?

Anyone know of any private coaches going?

I would recommend an aperitif in the 'spoons near the station then a visit to The Ale House.
Taxi, ok if part of a group.
The no 63 bus from Stroud stops outside the ground and runs every 30 mins.

Maybe they'll test you on the history of forest green on your way in.  Not too much studying to pass that test I suppose.

Not if we take the wording listed in the footer at the bottom of their forum page.

I quote: "we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world."

That site says they're "one of the oldest clubs in the world", founded 1889.

Quote from: wiki
They became founder members of the Mid Gloucestershire League five years later. Competing in various local league competitions for much of the 20th century, they won a multitude of league titles: the Dursley & District League (1902–03), the Stroud & District League (1911–12 and 1920–21), the Stroud Premier League (1934–35, 1935–36 and 1936–37), the North Gloucestershire League (1920–21 and 1921–22), and the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League (1937–38, 1949–50 and 1950–51). They became founder members of the Gloucestershire County League in 1968, before they were moved up to the Premier Division of the Hellenic League seven years later.

Heady stuff.

Ten years younger than Swindon and I highly doubt that we’re up there in the oldest clubs rankings.

As a side, I think Chippenham are the oldest club in Wilts aren’t they?

If we accept the 1879 date, we are the 22nd oldest club in the league. Notts County were usually cited as being the oldest, but since they dropped out of the league, can you say who has taken that mantle (without looking it up obvs)?

We have a winner, and a second place.

Stoke 1863, Forest 1865.

You a history teacher or something?  :sherlock:
