Title: Westbury v Swindon - Wiltshire Shield
Post by: Quagmire on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, 22:20:08
Anyone going to this tomorrow night?  (Wednesday 4th Dec - 19:45)

The game is being used as an opportunity to remember and raise money for the family of Aaron Salter, a former Westbury player and Swindon youth player, who recently died with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at the age of 34. He left behind his wife and 3 boys who were all under the age of 10.
I didn’t know Aaron personally, but we shared many mutual friends who all speak very highly of him, so in behalf of all of them any support would be appreciated.

The just giving page is - https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/aaronsalter

I was a couple of years above Aaron at school and he married an old school friend of mine.

Hadn't seen him since he was in STFC U18s. Very sad.

Suggests Donohue must be available Saturday as can’t imagine we’d risk anyone tonight that we’d plan on starting at the weekend.

On a CG trip with a Gooner friend, I once joked with pride (if not literal honesty) that our trophy cabinet was fuller than Arsenal's.  I had the Shield in mind, albeit from days of yore.   Great to see us going for it.  It could make a great "double".

Or that the FL have not allowed his re-registration for us. I wouldn't put it past them TBH.

Don’t think you’d play both Iandolo and Caddis in that case as if they get injured we’d be screwed and no one else in that team will be starting on Saturday.

True, I did wonder if he just wanted to give Caddis some extra game time though.

Its a shame the club have not come out and stated he has been allowed to sign yet.

Just had a chat with Noel Hunt who's in the dugout this evening about Donohue. Said they're trying to get it wrapped up within a day or two to announce Monday or Tuesday next week. They want an outcome by the weekend either way.

Westbury.....it's doesn't have a twin town but it does have a suicide pact with Calne.

Just got in after freezing my nuts off,  -2 degrees, finished 7-0, comfortable win but we still don't have a player that can head a ball. Think Caddis just had a run out, only played the first half,  no sign of an injury so hopefully fit for 90 mins Saturday.

Absolutely Baltic, wasn't it? DJ & Caddis only playing 45 was planned according to the bench pre game.

Good turn out though,   lots more than I expected.   Don't think there was too many left at the final whistle.   Thought kick off was going to be doubtful,  couldn't see across the pitch the fog was that heavy,  but lifted as time went on.

Cracking turnout. I arrived at about 7:30 and was convinced it would be off... Just before kick it lifted though as you say.

Iandolo seemed to take a knock, hopefully nothing too serious.
