Title: Nations League
Post by: pauld on Thursday, June 6, 2019, 13:04:42
Was quite looking forward to watching this, disappointed to see it's only on Sky. I thought all competitive England games had to be free to air?

Only a theory but as this was a considered a replacement for friendlies I'm sure Sky's lawyers would have used that to avoid sharing.

You don't get 10 million for the FLT. Important for confidence in my opinion. The next one of these will be taken very seriously.

It's a proper weird game for me.  It doesn't feel like a friendly would feel, but it also doesn't feel like a game where the result is critical - hence some of the odd defending.  At times half of the team seems up for it, the others a bit indifferent, but it's different players at different times.  Many of them have already won something with their club teams.  It's like they are trying to play the game but they are not really focused.  It's hard to explain.

It's like watching Town under Luke Williams....

Meh.

Won't be dissecting that too much. Two individual errors.

Central midfield letting us down again in terms of controlling a game, simply don't have the players required in that position.

Doesn't feel like a real competition to me, each to their own I suppose.

I switched on 10 mins into the game. At no point did I think England were capable of winning it. I thought it was a very poor performance against an average Dutch team.

That's the problem, no real class in midfield.... Rice as a holder, was semi OK, certainly not terrible. We could have done with Harry Winks, he's the sort, who can retain possession.  The other imponderable, is Foden, is he as good as the hype? Think it's probably too much to expect him to be ready for next summer.   You could make a very decent side out of a combined Anglo Dutch outfit.

Awful...

I fly out Saturday PM...luckily hedged my bets and got a third place play off ticket.

Look out for the flag.

Swindon Town FC...on tour since 1879

Yup. Brief moment of hope with the offside goal, but would have been a travesty. Meh, it's the national teams answer to the InterToto Cup, would have been nice to have won it, but no more a major trophy than the womens' side winning the SheBelieves Cup last summer.

Nevermind, if the Dutch win they can put it alongside their solitary European Championship win and their three Olympic bronzes and pretend they are a major force in world football
