Yes to the 63 game, but sadly no to the Dortmund game.  Just seen Smarty running for the number 9 to Wroughton, still moves well, reminded me of a winner he scored at Brentford in 66, ran onto a through ball from Keith Morgan and rifled it in from 25 yards.

Funny season.... seemingly had all the ingredients, front 3 of Keith East on 19, the Don on 18 and Dennis (Bullets) Brown on 15.... yet still nowhere near going up  :hmmm:

 Elsewhere I posited the question, who was the last man to score 10 or more cup goals for Town, so cup goals is defined as the 2 major trophies FA Cup and League Cup. (none of your Boycott muck)

 Not surprisingly The Don is out on his own, but the likes of Harold Fleming didn't play LC games, well unless you count SL LC, which I'm not.

 Mossy at 2 would be a surprise perhaps, but always got the impression he liked the Cups, and played in some of those renowned Cup side of the 70's with te likes of Trevor Anderson and Ray McHale.  Maurice Owen got a handful of LC games at its inception having played his first FA cup games just after the War.

Makes it difficult, though, for our more recent players when we get ass-whupped in the first rounds season after season.

There was a small debate earlier in the season about whether the standard of non league had risen, or the standard of Town player dropped.

My thoughts were that there isn't much difference between Conference S/N players and our lot, as shown by just getting past York and losing to Woking.

PdC short reign, gave us a couple of old skool Cup results v Prem sides, which shows it is still possible, but you do need good players....
