I really don’t get the Liverpool hate, I’m desperate for them to win the league Sunday just to piss the Utd fans off!

Went over the pub to watch it as I prefer a bit of atmosphere and chat about the game and was well rewarded although and no way a Liverpool fan by any means but one hell of a result. Guy I sat with had Barca to win 3-0 last week and won £150 and 'Pool to win 4-0 tonight. Cashed out after the fourth goal went in to win £300 but if he had held out would have won £500 but not bad for a fiver.

 :)

Who's going to play miserable bastards after that? Classic Anfield European night. And that corner for the last goal? - genius.

I expect we’ll have one of the usual ‘against modern football’ TEF’rs along in due course sarcastically telling us it’s a fairytale but there is no denying that was some achievement. There has been some superb top level matches this season and it’s great to see the Premier League also going down to the wire in terms of the title race.

Football needs that sort of night. It makes everything possible. It doesn’t matter if you like Liverpool or not, or whether Barca turned up, you have to appreciate it.

I was in The Steamer & watched it. Surprisingly quiet in there numbers wise. Fantastic turnaround.

BUT... the 2nd greatest comeback ever was Town turning around a 0-3 first leg deficit to Darlo in the League Cup to win 4-3 on agg.

The greatest being Leicester Shitty's comeback from 3-0 down at Wembley only to have their fireworks well & truly pissed on by Chalky & Zippy! Ha, ha fuckin' ha!!!

Service a bit slow in Catalan Tapas Bars everywhere tonight.

Shame it was tucked away on BT Sport.
The football that is, not the tapas.

Unless you have a specific reason to hate Liverpool then as a football fan you have to appreciate how brilliant that was.

For me I just like the underdog, shocks, comebacks and Jurgen Klopp.

The greatest comeback ever was Birmingham away.

That was properly good. If there are any of you that didn't feel even a small tinge of regret that you didn't decide to start glory hunting Liverpool at a young age, you're stronger than I am.

Remarkable stuff.

What a game, what a performance. People will say Barca didn't turn up and they'd be right - just look at the body language of their players and coach after each Liverpool goal and it tells you everything... but Liverpool got at them constantly over the whole two legs and were worthy winners. Barca couldn't handle them. It's the kind of night that reignites a love for football after watching the last few years of dross at STFC.

Fair play to the bin dippers, I have loads of mates that at Liverpool fans and I am chuffed for them.

I don't think they will win the league but I would love them to win it even if just to massively upset the whole of Manchester.

Simply phenomenal.  For me they are best fans out there (in terms of steadfast & passionate support not moral probity).

Has to be the most impressive turnaround in European cup/champions league history, given the opponents and being the semi-final.

Best Swindon comeback for me, even eclipsing Birmingham, was 3-3 at Oxford after being 3-0 down.

Birmingham away was phenomenal. Just on the brink of leaving the ground at 4-1 down, too.

Now, there’s a game - home to Bristol Rovers - where we scored 2 very late goals to win after being behind. Bolloxed if I can find/remember when (or much else, tbh. The days of being extremely boozed up every single game I’m afraid).

That game fits the criteria, I suppose, but it’s not what I remember. Maybe I’m imagining the whole thing, maybe it wasn’t BRovers. No maybe about being pissed, though.

Go on Jimmy Milner!

Would he be the first ex Town player to win a European Cup / Champions League winners medal if Liverpool go on to do the business

Phil Duffell was/is a lovely bloke, I used to sit with him during matches when I was stewarding, used to live up Cricklade back then.

So, 4 PL teams in the European finals - Platini must be fuming.

What does this mean for next season’s CL. Liverpool or Spurs will win the CL but are already qualified through league position. Does the 5th place team qualify as well. If so, then either Arsenal or Chelsea will win the Europa League and so automatically qualify for the CL.

That takes 5th out of the equation. Surely Man Utd won’t qualify by coming 6th.

A while back I wondered what would happen if say the present top 4 in Prem qualified by that route.... Man U had won the CL and Arsenal the Europa?

Memory a bit fuzzy, but I seem to remember when Liverpool won CL and didn't qualify by right, Spurs in 4th were dropped, which seemed completely unfair.  Think as a result some changes were made... not sure waht.

In the event I guess, if Arsenal don't overtake Spurs at the weekend on GD, which although unlikely is just about possible, they'll qualify by winning in Baku.

Regarding qualification

- as Liverpool and spurs have both already qualified for the tournament through league position, I think red bull Salzburg will take the spot reserved for the tournament winner, as the highest ranked team/coefficient that hasn’t otherwise qualified
-if Chelsea win the europa, their champions league place will go to the next highest ranked team/coefficient, which I think I read would be the third day placed french team

I think that’s right, it’s a bit of a minefield

Qualification explained.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47806720

The prospect of a money spinning friendly and a potential CL qualifier on the same day will send Ed Woodward into a frenzy.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48220247

I wonder if many will try and drive to Baku.

And the cost of a direct flight to Madrid for the CL final has hit £1,300 apparently.

Your gag would work so much better if more than 1 of the 14 goals scored by English teams in the semi-finals had not been scored by foreign players on the whole only being here because of free movement in the EU.

I guess he is moaning at whoever at Chelsea has done the arranging.
