Title: Coffee Machines
Post by: Quagmire on Monday, January 28, 2019, 18:53:43
Does anyone have any recommendations or anything to avoid?
I’m looking at getting a Dolce Gusto to see how I get on, unless i’m better off avoiding them?

it's that a pod machine?

I'm very happy with my dehlongi bean to cup if it helps.

An aeropress. Better coffee than a pod machine (depending what you put in it, of course), a fraction of the price, half the size.... there’s a reason the decent independent coffee shops use them!

I'd go Nespresso, with the aeropress milk frother thing. Didnt like the Dulce Gusto thing. Nespresso far superior coffee IMO.

Ours is around 5 years old now. It squeaks a bit when it’s doing it’s thing but still makes a great cup!

Absolutely this! Friends and family have invested in bean to cup jobbers but I prefer my aeropress set up

Same as you and BO. Mine is over 10 years old now, still going strong. I did have to diagnose a fault and replace a solenoid a few years back, but that was fun. The espresso has always been a touch weak in opinion, but I still love it.

Also, for those who buy beans, get on this site, it’s great. http://hasbean.co.uk/

Ditto. Bean to cup is cheaper per cup than any pod, plus you get the benefit of being able to try of whole world of different beans, strengths and flavours unlike a pod machine.

Yes you will pay more initially but you won't regret it. I got my Delonghi half price on Black Friday.

Don't go pod is the only advice I can offer.

Pretty much this. Made the change from pod to bean to cup this Christmas and can't believe I didn't do it sooner.

We've got one of these and it's great.

Also a subscription to Pact Coffee, which is also great. Bean, ground or pod. Let me know if you want a free bag as a first order.

Thats more like it, was looking at the others suggested and they were 300-400 quid! Doesn't matter sadly as I am not supposed to have coffee so that's one pleasure removed from life!

Another vote for Pact, I have been using them for a couple of years now. Great coffee, delivery and service. Again, I can get you a free bag as well I guess?

Bloody hell do you work in faux marketing ads? That was textbook "This is the shit, and nothing else is."

I'm joking of course it was the '...can't believe I didn't do it sooner.' bit that made me chuckle  :girlgiggle:
