Title: York City game
Post by: ronnie21 on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, 13:39:50
Have they released details on price etc yet.  Cannot see anything on official site!  Got somebody visiting the area for a few days over that weekend and they would like to book tickets!

Not seen 'owt, since online ticketing doesn't have it I guess they haven't finalized it yet.

Both clubs have to agree the pricing, don't they?  I'm paying $110 (combined) to watch Atlanta Utd with my little one next weekend, I imagine it will be less than that.

George was a good ref.... think he was a teacher, maybe even a head. I wonder how we'd get on at Spennymoor on a Tuesday night?

I see from the press conference:

PB | 🗣️💬

"Toumani Diagouraga won't be involved. Olly Lancashire will be available. Michael Doughty is on a course of antibiotics after an infection spread through his foot. He won't be available. Marc Richards is 50/50."

He got taken to the station and released from what I've heard.

As far as names go I still can't get over our 2 CB's last season being Preston & Lancashire. That always tickled me

A few years back, the Monkeyhangers had Hartley and Poole playing for them.

One of the things that'll be interesting tomorrow, will be to see if there's much of a gap between us and a Conference N side. We know from recent experience there isn't between us and Conference sides, as I don't think we've beaten one for a while.

My feeling is there won't be.... York sound like they're still full time pros.

Only if he follows the manager's order not to eat too much breakfast.  :I'm a complete mofleakin Deak

Nobody needs reminding that our record against conference teams is rank. This is not a recent development, and has been the case for over 20 years.

However, York are no longer a conference team, because they are not good enough to be one. Whenever we've played teams from their current level in relatively recent years we've won comfortably. Dartford were in form and top of the Conference South, but we went 5-0 up inside an hour. York's form is worse than ours.

As most have acknowledged, there's absolutely no excuse for anything other than a relatively straightforward home win.

It would hardly be the biggest of upsets. 2 divisions of separation? No different to a L2 club beating a Championship team - in fact, that would probably be the bigger upset.

I’ve gone for an upset acca- York, FGR, Chesterfield and Cobblers.

Tenner pays just under £3000!

Looking at Richard B's site, it appears Parkin has never played against STFC, whcih comes as something of a surprise.

They are and, yes, the fans are up in arms because 7 or 8 of the squad are reported as having contracts to the end of next season, let alone this.

They aren’t great (seen them 3 times this season) but big and could bully us. The left back has a decent free kick on him, as I said before Moke is a class midfielder and Parkin, who tends to be a sub, will flatten anyone in his way - he’s got a decent touch too.

We should stuff them but I wouldn’t be surprised if we draw 1-1 then we win the replay.

When you are in a period of historic shitness, such things should not be taken for granted. Avoiding an upset should be considered a success....a replay would also bring in a few quid so that wouldn’t be disastrous.

A replay would only make money if a TV company wished to see us humiliated... I'm not sure if we're in that sort of territory, any longer. Losing at Tooting and Mitcham was shown on Sportsnight with Coleman.... losing v plucky Div 4 side Oxford, got in the BBC's revenge for the stoning of the com box containing Hansen and Des Lynham.  We then had efforts v Crawley and Eastleigh... but no, there was still sufficient pride to wait for the replay to lose.

Doubt TV decision makers would consider York winning as an upset

common sense would suggest that the decision on which replays to televise would depend on what other fixtures there are to choose from
