Title: Leicester city helicopter crash
Post by: Batch on Saturday, October 27, 2018, 19:46:58
not much more known than the title

BREAKING: The Leicester City helicopter just crashed in the club car park...no other news

Looks like it's the owners and has gone down in the car park :(

Pics on Twitter don't give me hope of a good ending. Hope nobody on the ground was hit

Apparently definitely the owner's helicopter, not confirmed he was on board, but it's not like he will have decided to hitch back to wherever is it? Doesn't look good

That's not actually a contradiction in terms. I'll allow it...

Weird that there seems to be almost a media ban on whats actually happened with any victims, no official confirmation has come out yet other than one elderly Leicester fan that died at the scene.

Not good.

Just heard on the radio that five had died including the chairman and his daughter. Sympathies to all involved, certainly puts football on the back burner when something like this happens. Gather he donated a million pounds to Leicester hospital recently when it was in financial trouble.  Seems like he was a hero locally. RIP.

Terrible.  By all accounts they were/are a great family and invested in Leicester, not just Leicester City.

Why do people use helicopters?  They are a deathtrap.

I've turned down helicopter rides all over the world. Not a chance of me getting in one. I'd rather be shot out of a cannon.

I can imagine that being shot out of a cannon might be a tad riskier. Probably a lot of fun, though.

I'd fancy my chances of a safe landing more. Helicopters are scary

Confirmed that the Leicester club owner was among the victims, along with two his staff members, the pilot and the co-pilot/passenger.  :(

Brings back memories of when Town nearly had a similar tragedy.

I don't think anyone died on the ground and the guys daughter wasn't even in the helicopter. the misinformation which was circulating rather explains why nothing official was released until some time after!

It could easily have been a case of making sure next of kin were informed and allowed tone to pass the news to other family members/give time for privacy.

Terrible thing

Yes thats right, on the LCFC forum they stated an elderly man on the ground was hit and killed, it did take a while to announce fully as Batch says that could be down to conacting the next of kin, quite unusual though in taking that long.

One of my close mates is a Leicester fan for the last 30 years and hes been in tears since he heard, its hit many many people, absolutely awful.

I think that has been confirmed as the case. Probably became a bit tricky trying to get hold of a particular NOK in Thailand

Yes this has rocked the East Mids pretty hard. Derby, Forest & of course Leicester fans all uniting in what is a terrible accident.

Up here I know several people from the area. The Leicester Chairman was not just a "dot the 'i' and cross the 'tees'" kind of man. He was heavily involved in the community and used his wealth to influence in a positive way.

He'll be incredibly missed by many in the East Midlands  :(

There is further footage of the incident knocking about on social media, both from inside the ground (showing the loss of control) and also CCTV from outside, as you can imagine the net is heading into conspiracy theory overload!

Morbid fascination/desire to know what happened I guess. Certainly not enjoyment. The BBC even asked an expert for opinion about the footage.

As Batch said, i don't think there is any enjoyment, well, for some there might be, but for many, its merely curiosity.
