Title: Carabao Cup
Post by: ronnie21 on Friday, June 8, 2018, 16:14:17
No extra time this coming season, straight to pens if drawn after 90 mins.  Apparently an open draw in the first two rounds and VAR comes into play but only on Premier grounds.

Why only prem grounds for VAR? Pointless, might aswell not bother using it full stop, one rule for one etc

I imagine its purely down to the fact that they are the only grounds which will have it, cannot imagine its a cheap system to install and would be a drain on lower clubs like us to install?

If its not in every ground no point using it in the competition. You could get the same VAR style decisions at the Cg as you could at Old Trafford etc

Yep, enough cameras around ALL pro grounds these days that they can do it. If it's meant to set the standard for modern football, the FA should install this "tech" in all professional football stadia. Actually spend the (b)millions of cash they recieve on supporting it and investing properly in it. Instead of spending it on fucking lavish dinners and backslapping events.

Cunts.

A couple of Checkatrade changes...

- EFL clubs will now be able to include players who are on loan at National League clubs.

- Category One teams who take part will only be allowed to name two players who are over the age of 21 and have played more than 40 first-team games.

I understand it is the goal line technology that isnt available to all clubs.  Perhaps some of the premier millions could be given to ensure all clubs in the top four divisions have it - or am I asking too much?

We can work out what these sponsors actually did, but what about Simod. What did they do?

The Caraboa 1st round draw will be split into north and south and the draw will take place in vietnam (I think)

The reason for doing away with extra time, replays and straight to penalties was so that these poor clubs but not have to play so many games - but a lot of the so called bigger clubs aren't interested in this competition until it get's to the semi final anyway so why pander to what they want, surely it hurts the smaller clubs.

The bigger clubs should be forced to play their 1st team if the smaller clubs have to do in in the mickey LDV mouse cup.

They should do separate draws in North and South Vietnam, complete with VietCong outfits (for the North). That would give the whole proceedings the real sense of gravitas the League are clearly looking for

So the draw is in about an hour, I suppose Villa away would be nice

If last year is anything to go by we might even get drawn a couple of times!

Anyone at home would be ok.

Unfortunately so can I. That has to be about the most uninspiring draw. Given the total lack of anything remotely resembling an exciting game in the league, I was hoping for a decent Cup draw.

could have been worse imo, at least there's a local aspect.

we'll get a big club in round 2.

yeah... ok..  round 2..

After what seems like an age, we've got a cup home draw under lights, which is surely a positive, regardless of the opposition.

'Smells like victory' is a cultural reference to the Vietnam-based draw and Apocalypse Now. I don't think anyone has suggested we're going to walk into Round 2. I suspect for many Town and FGR fans, the fixture is a lot better than some on offer, I mean, who in their right mind would prefer a trip to Franchise, for example?

With our seeming inability to make the third round of the FA Cup, the league cup is our one opportunity of drawing somebody that will result in a big crowd at home.

A draw against another Div 4 team at home isn’t likely to do that.

Hopefully we can win and then get the good draw in round 2
