Title: Your personal Town record this season.
Post by: sir windon on Sunday, May 6, 2018, 17:42:30
So, now that's all over, how did the Town fair in the games you attended? No judgements, we all have our reasons for attending/ not attending. We may discover a lucky mascot or albatross out there?
Here's how I got on.

Chesterfield D 2-2
Wycombe W 1-0
Barnet L 1-4

So glad I didn't bother with a season ticket this year.

Home - P9: W2, D1, L6

Away - P2: W1, L1

I’m amazed, honestly, that we were still getting 6000+ at the end.

Majority of home games - missing Cambridge 2-0 win,  Notts County 1-0 win, Morecambe 1-1 draw

Away games - Forest Green 2-0 win, Luton 3-0 win, Cheltenham 1-2 loss,  Yeovil 2-1 win,  Stevenage 2-5 loss (cup),  Coventry 1-3 loss,  Lincoln 2-2 draw,  Cambridge 3-1 win,, Newport 1-2 loss,  Crawley 1-1 draw

Highlights were trips to Luton, Yeovil and Cambridge (in the snow). Lowlights were majority of the home games, all pretty uninspiring really

Can't be bothered to go through which games I went to, definitely missed a fair few, especially second half of the season. Personal highlight was leaving the home game against Crewe at 1 - 3.

Exeter 1-1. Looked ok but Exeter looked strong. Woolery scored
Wycombe 1-0. Wind was ridiculous. Atrocious game of football with both team just leathering the ball as hard as they could towards the penalty areas. Lottery football.
Dartford 5-1 FA Cup 1. Good performance to avoid a potential banana skin.
Chesterfield 2-2. Crap performance against the bottom team. Norris’ ropey penalty in the last minute of injury time harsh on Chesterfield.
Stevenage 2-5 FA Cup 2. Did well to claw back from 2-0 down to gain parity but then fell apart to get humbled and miss out on the lucrative third round.
Coventry 1-3. (a) Can’t remember being totally terrible but Coventry were the better side.
Stevenage 1-0 (a) god awful game of long ball football seperated by an Olly Banks header. Good fight from the side in the battle of which keeper could leather the ball the highest into the ether. RCC won.
Port Vale 3-2. Again not the most convincing but Marc Richards scores goals and a lovely finish by Mullin meant I went back to London content.

Then I got injured and couldn’t do any more, although I probably would have done only a couple more. My dad doesn’t have a season ticket anymore and so we pick and choose games. We’ll be back for the early home games next season, if can’t be worse than this season, surely?

Cba to go through them all but this is the most home games I've missed for a long, long time. Missed a few wins but managed to see back to back defeats to Barnet and Crawley.

Started with an away win at Carlisle and it was pretty much all downhill from there.

Haha, see I would look at that and say that we've already bottomed out. An upward trend is due. Some would say under Brown we'd draw a lot but even if we drew every game we would stay up............on GD. We were 22 points better than relegation this season and only 7 points worse than a PO spot. A marginally better squad or even a marginally better defensive squad probably would've seen us go up. Our achilles heel ended up being too many keeper changes and we all know it wasn't due to an injury crisis in that position. Bring David Lucas out of retirement...

Getting relegated was down to poor management. Not going up this season was down to a poor manager. That graph means nothing to me.

 Ohhh Vienna.

Which is why the background to the coming season has to be played out under the question has our slide bottomed out?  Or is there more to come.

Still season done... plenty of time to worry about that, now time to focus on cricket.

I'd be very tempted by the 4 dayer in Chesterfield v Northants in July, if up your way.  I've only ever sat and eaten chips in Queen's Park, before a Town game in winter, but dreamed of how it could be wonderful on a day like today....

Indeed, Queens Park is wonderful (as are many of the green and pleasant spaces in the UK) in this weather. With cricket and without being too bias, a quite stunning field of play it makes for a glorious environment :)

I worked out the other day that we had racked up over 6,800 miles this season.

Will probably try & get in a few more away games next season.

By the "lucks" of things PR, you are our winning mascot/charm. Seeing the Town win 15 of 31 and draw 6 gives you a;

WR of c50%
SR of c66%

and only a;

LR of c33%

Should have gone to more  :)  Cracking effort.

The effort was generally good but the football soul destroying.

The exceptions for me having been the two Luton games where in one the football was admirable and in the other the effort abysmal.

Pathetic this year which is why Ive mainly resisted on commenting on stuff I dont know about.

1 Draw - Exeter
1 Loss - Luton

1 Attempt thwarted by the weather - Accrington away.

Maybe next year Ill regain some enthusiasm.

Notts County, Grimsby and Chesterfield away, 3 defeats. Normally get to around ten games a season but had no real enthusiasm this season. Hopefully the manager situation will be sorted quickly and we can look forward to some exciting new signings 🤔

Unless I've wiped anything from my memory, I only managed 3 games this season.

Carlisle (A)
Port Vale (A)
Accrington (A)

66% win ratio. Hope to make more games next season but depends on fixtures and finances really.

Missed a couple of home league games.

Went to 2 away games, Cheltenham and Wycombe, both of which we lost.

I don't do many away games, which is probably a good thing since the last time I saw us win away was Charlton in the 2010 play-off semi-final!
