Title: What would you do?
Post by: Chubbs on Monday, March 19, 2018, 10:56:20
So, Its your birthday, you have the best part of the day child free, just you and your better half. What do you do?

It's so rare that we get any time just to ourselves that now we have it, neither of us can think of what to do. At the moment, the best we can come up with is a walk into old town, get our eyes tested, and maybe have a bit to eat for lunch somewhere.

Living the dream.

Ah, OT should look very different by Friday.

People usually go to one of our satellite towns or cities for such happy events.

Walk into old town up the railway path and go to Jack's Bistro. Sounds decent to me.

Mine too 👍

Blimey, that makes 3 of us !

A couple of years ago, my missus took me to Wadworths brewery tour - an hour or so round the brewery, then a few tasters afterwards. A nice way to pass a few hours and you can be back in time for the afternoon school run

Sounds like you and the other half need...Alphabet Dating. It's pretty simple, start with 'A' and one of you chooses something to do with said letter. It could be abseiling or a trip to Avebury. Making art (oh yeah!) or just a random adventure. It doesn't have to be expensive or fancy though (much as the pressures of life at times). It might involve just making something together or appreciating one another. That might sound a bit pathetic to some and obviously you both know your own relationship dynamic but it's worth a go. Next time you have a "free day" the other will get to choose 'B'. Treat it as a bit of fun and you might even find out pretty cool stuff about each other you never know. If nothing else, you'll understand each other a little more, one way or the other :)

On the subject of birthdays i’m Shit at telling people of anything that I would as a BD present, just cannot be arsed so like a lot of people I guess I tend to say nothing really. However, i’m Interested in a wine sulphide filter. So the question is, has anyone got one or knows of someone who has and are they any good?

Or buy your wine direct from the sellers (before supermarket/bulk buyer chain). Most wines that are "made" for the supermarket will contain sulphites purely for shelf life longevity and transportation. You can buy your wine w/o sulphites from the sellers though and it should be cheaper and there's a lot of theory around "no sulphites equals less likely hangover" certainly seemed that way when I was drinking local plonk in Italy a few years ago and also in Madeira two years ago. I think I paid €1 for a litre of Vinho Tinto and no it wasn't table vinegar ;)

If you want to keep the romance alive, don't get your eyes tested.

Sometimes it's easy to forget how difficult being a woman must be.  I'm glad I was born a bloke.... liking football, beer and birds.

Not sure if this is the same thing but we have some device you pour red wine through which meant that it doesn't require to be put in a decanter for hours and you can just drink it straight away.

Not a clue if it works or not!

I don't think I know any... probably lead a sheltered life, but all the lezzers I know, and that's a few, might do the beer, but never the football.  Whereas the few birds who do the football and maybe drink beer seem hetero for the most part.

I know a young girl at work who fits the bill - albeit Newport County is her club of choice.
