I'm just getting over not knowing David Hemery was born in Ciren.. Very much so - he came from Cirencester & worked in the Co-op at one time ! He was our neighbour when he lived in Harwell, so we went to many matches. He had two Ferraris, so I usually went as passenger and was usually scared shitless :-) He was also a racing driver, so I felt safe(ish) ! He was approached at one time by one of our 'owners' to invest in the club - luckily he realised what went on behind the scenes and refused ! A truly down to earth, likeable person who largely shunned the excesses of hard rock - sadly taken much too young. |
