Have they started to run trains back from Coventry Arena straight after the game yet? last time I got the train up there were no return trains for well over an hour after the match.

Seems to be one at 1721, and one at 1749 to Nuneaton to pick up a WM Trains service back to Euston too.

Thats better than it used to be, defeats the point of a station there if you can't get trains back after a match as they lay them on after the egg chasing matches there.

Ooh this could be exciting, game's not for another 2.5 weeks and we could get all sorts of talk about train timetables  :)

I seem to remember a railway line, right near the Ricoh when I went season before last.

If I remember correctly from when we were there a few seasons ago, they cited potential overcrowding as the reason for not running trains between Coventry Arena & Coventry - until after the crowds had dispersed.  So they could run trains for events (such as the rugby) where the crowds were not as large - but not for CCFC games.

Quite ironic really as Wasps average 18k and have had a few 30k+ crowds recently.

I bought my train tickets earlier this week. Only to Coventry though, didn’t realise the arena station was working!

Cov to Cov Arena is £2.40 return, about 6 mins on the train but half hours walk!

Cheers JJ. We got a bus last season and it took forever (think we got the wrong one to boot!)

I normally park at a hotel about a 10 mins walk from the stadium when I go to Cov. Last time I went the whole squad was in there so looked a bit stalkerish. Ross Embleton came and had a chat with us and seemed like a genuinely nice bloke.... If only I'd known....

How many have we sold for this?
I’m thinkkng of driving up, where is the best place to park? I was going to book a space at the ground but it looks like you can’t arrive before 2pm. Also, which pub will everyone head too?

No idea on presales but reckon we'll have about 1000 up there. Pubs - god knows. Might knock around the city centre as I need to change trains anyway but no idea near the ground.

Theres a hotel not far away where you can park for a few quid, about a 10-15 minute walk and they do beers / food. Usually quite quiet and easy to get back onto the Motorway. http://www.novotel.com/gb/hotel-0506-novotel-coventry-m6j3/index.shtml

Last year we stayed centrally for a drink and got a bus about 2. Cannot for the life of me remember the pub but it was a Weatherspoons and the food and drink was dirt cheap. Will probably head there again.

You used to be able to pre-pay and go in a car park nearly next door.

You can, but it seems to can’t get in there before 2. I would rather park up early and walk to a pub.

There’s a car park on Winding House Lane which is about 10mins from the ground.

That opens at 12:00, that’s where we parked last year.

Up to a 1000 sold in advance for this so should hopefully be 1300+ you'd imagine. Looking forward to it. New ground as well for me, which is rare these days.

Any advance on city centre pubs?

I'm meeting a couple of London Reds and taking advantage of the excellent cheap beer and 2 meals for £6.95 offer at the Litten Tree. Get into Cov at 12.45 so should hopefully be there for 1.

I believe so.

The website is shocking, apparently you can now buy tickets for our trip to Gresty Road to watch us play Crewe on 23/12/2017.

I see on their forum they are going to use the game tomorrow as a fans tribute to their ex player the great Cyrille Regis I hope that doesn't lift their players as we have a pretty good record up there unbeaten since 1964 with 4 wins and 3 draws in our last 7 visits there.

We had a long unbeaten record at the CG in league games until this season.  One of the features of our continuing slide over the last couple of seasons, has been losing to teams who historically we've had good records against, alongside historically poor cup performances.

I still hang on to our away record this season and added to our long history of (several) good results at Coventry...overly optimistic? probably yes.

He was probably the most muscular player I ever saw play football in the flesh, legs like tree trunks, sadly such a young age to pass.

As far as I remember he only ever played competively against us once that I can remember, vs Aston Villa in the FA cup in 92. Could be wrong though.

Probably.  Interestingly Newport are playing Crawley tonight, and will go above us with a win. Crawley however are on a bit of a run under Kewell, who seems to turning them around, a win for them will bring them into the PO picture. A draw would be good.

Cyrille Regis played in Don Rogers Testimonial in May 78 for WBA and scored twice that night; and yes he did play for Villa in the cup match in 92

Newport will have a 'big' crowd backing them tonight.

For non-season ticket holders to qualify for a ticket for the Spurs FA Cup game, people had to buy a ticket for tonight's game.  To make sure people actually attend, apparently they will only qualify for a Spurs ticket if their Crawley ticket is used (ie machine read on entry tonight)!  No doubt there will be lots of people climbing over the wall to get back out before tonight's game starts!  :)
