Trump has so far managed to avoid a major war... I remember when Kennedy was shot, LBJ came in. In many respects a decent man, but he still managed to escalate The Vietnam War, even though he didn't really want to.

LBJ was a Southerner who introduced civil rights legislation, pretty impressive to my mind.  I guess he'd rather be remembered for that than the Vietnam war, bit you don't choose your legacy.

Pence is indeed truly worrying, perhaps less likely to start a nuclear war by accident by having a tantrum on Twitter, but just as likely to start one deliberately.

Pence is a member of the evangelistic group that want Armageddon to happen so, yes, be careful what you wish for.

Do they positively want Armageddon to happen (and are actively seeking it to hasten its arrival by any means) or do they merely believe that their god is going to make it happen at some point of his/her choosing?

They want it to happen because they believe it will hasten the second coming of Christ, before which they will get beamed up to heaven by gawd in the rapture. It's an integral part of evangelical doctrine. It's what making Jerusalem the capital of Israel is all about, it's part of a prophecy that will lead to it all kicking off, or so they think. The prophecy includes building a 3rd temple in Jerusalem and making Jerusalem the capital of Israel would help with that. They think that then a dignitary will enter the temple and declare himself to be the anti-christ. Many used to think it would be Blair. I know, it's bat shit crazy, but it's what they actually believe.

Generally speaking of course, I'm sure there's many evangelicals that are more considerate of others, but asides from that, yeah, they want it to happen. And Pence is pulling strings to try and force it. I don't think that they'll get what they want, but that they even want it is enough. That they are trying to force it is worse.

And a lot of people think Islam is the only dangerous religion...

I take the point that people who believe in an afterlife are always potentially dangerous to those of us who believe that this life is all you get and that it's therefore worth hanging on to. 

I'm not competent to challenge your Armageddon extrapolation (you clearly know more about Christian evangelism than I do) but obviously I hope you're over-estimating the risk.

Surely posting on this thread is pretty distasteful?  A good shout indeed, but hopefully wide of the mark.

Must be something unpleasant to go to the extent of a) getting an injunction and b) cancelling rather than just postponing the tour, but we shall see, sure it will all come out when they are happy to do so.

Only thing I have seen on social media is people moaning that they have not been getting their money back as promised.

Yup, I can imagine that some people are going to have a long wait if not an indefinite one.

My wife paid way over the face value at Viagogo, but the refund came very quickly without any prompting.

I bought tickets via the O2 priority app.

I've not only had my money back but they also refunded ALL of the fees.

As someone else said, it must be something really serious to not just cancel some of the tour, but things as far as 18 months into the future.

I heard about it on here and saw my money was back the same day.

Incredible Marc Riley (6 music DJ and former member of the fall before Smith sacked him) having to announce it live on his show too.

Could be his mum to be honest. His mum has been the main focus of a lot of his material and as we all know even named a previous tour after her "Mum want's a Bungalow Tour".

We can't claim he cares about his mum anymore than we care/have cared for our own but we can claim he cares about his mum the most. I'm pretty sure it's related to that.
