Title: FA Cup draw Monday
Post by: The Artist Formerly Known as Audrey on Saturday, October 14, 2017, 18:49:46
Surely we’ve got to get past round 1 this time. I still love the old girl and an away game at Truro could be fun.

Or Oxford - City or United.

Macclesfield are in the hat!

Anyone at home.

I don’t fear Non-League opposition any more, we’ve lost enough of them now.

Wouldn't mind getting one over Eastleigh after last year. Ultimately I'm not too bothered. Our recent terrible form in the competition has knocked my love for it. Wouldn't mind an obscure non league team away though.

Hereford away would be a decent draw... do they still play at Edgar Street, or did our old friends drive them out for a quick sale  :hmmm:

Not many decent local non league ties left TBH, Hereford for old times sake and Pox City for locality and Bath if they get through. Slough and Maidenhead are easy to get to, Boreham Wood would recall memories of 1977 and is an easy tie for Town fans to travel to in comparison to many possible ties.

Add in the bigger local teams like Rovers and the Pox, I would personally prefer an away trip to Yeovil or Exeter as they are close to me.

Its going to be Macclesfield or Cheltenham away again isn't it!

Shaw Lane Association are the lowest ranked side left in and they are based in Barnsley. Former Town youth keeper Jon Stewart is their no 1.

He did sign for them in the Summer yes, Dickie Dosh is manager there, no idea how Hylton is getting on there though.

He appears to have not played for them yet. Must be injured.

According to Soccerbase he hasn't played a game this season...

I'd imagine they'll get turned over by Ossett.

Not getting anyone in Div 4 would be good. We've got that horrible situation coming up where we have Wycombe twice within a short while with the Boycott trophy, sod's law may dictate an unwanted extra game... we seem to get them a lot in cups.

We haven't been past the first round since 2011. Time to change that.

Weirldy this season I would feel more comfortable away than at home in the 1st round.

Actually a home draw, particularly against a “weaker” non league team could be the right fixture to test our home mettle and instill some confidence in front of the baying mob.

We've been so deprived of a cup run recently, our last FA Cup win was against Wigan in 2012. Let's get an 'easy' team at home, no concerns at us failing to cope physically with them and try to progress to 3rd or 4th round this season!

Chorley (A) would do too.

Not that I'm biased.

There's a decent CIU club in Leatherhead... also a walk along the River Mole has much to commend it. Bit of industrial archaeology due to site of Ronson's lighter factory.

Yes they are spending £3k a week on Jamie O'Hara, Jermaine Pennant and Paul Konchesky...each.

Owned (and managed) by a bit of a nutter by all accounts, the "dream" mural at the ground is frankly a bit embarressing.

Not a bad draw TBH. Not too far a trip easy to get to and we should sell out whatever allocation we are given.

National South side so definately winnable, although they have excellent home form with just 1 defeat in 8 games so far there with 6 wins and only 1 draw.

We have only played them once before, that was also in the FA cup when we won 1-0 in the 2nd round at the County Ground in 1933 when 10,543 turned up to watch it.

Their ground can hold 4,100 (642 seats) they average around 1,100 at home this season so with the pull of a league club and our excellent away following I can see it selling over 3,000 tickets.

For a club of that size in such a built up area attracting a league club (however how shit) if they don't sell out with plastics there is something seriously wrong with football.

Swindon Town will travel to Dartford in the First Round of The FA Cup on Sunday 5th November 2017, it has been confirmed today.

Dave Flitcroft's side will take on the National League South outfit in the opening round of the competition with kick-off at 2pm.

The tie has been switched to Sunday due to the fact that the game has been selected for live overseas broadcast coverage and it will also form part of BBC Sport's live single camera footage that will be used for extended highlights and the Sunday Final Score show.

Ticket details will be confirmed in due course.
