Title: Forest Green Training
Post by: Saxondale on Monday, July 3, 2017, 10:50:14
Seems like they are coming to Chippenham to train at Stanley Park.

Almost like they are trying to extend there reach and perhaps nick a few town fans in the process.  Will be very interesting to see if they try to integrate into the local community of satellite towns in a way that the town don't seem to bother.

Newport County used to do it I think under Dean Holdsworth. Mostly to attract London based footballers to the club.

Barring the vegetarianism, if you took youngsters to FGR and then the CG, I think few would prefer the CG. New stadiums feel more impressive to the younger kids.

Not that I don't think the county is better despite its faults.

For kids it's about the size of the stadium and amount of people at the game.

I suspect very few of them would find 2,000 people at a glorified non-league ground more impressive

You've never been to the New Lawn then.

FGR's average attendance last season wouldn't even fill the Town End with its 1,753 and the highest gate was a mere 2,383.

I genuinely don't think many kids would prefer to be in a newer ground just because it is newer.

Even if their average goes up to a modest 2,400 thats still only half filled to its capacity of 4,800.

I didn't realise that it is essentially a 1 side and a 2 half size behind goal stands TBH.

I went to the old ground at the old lawn and it was your typical non league ramshackle missmatch of stands and standing, the new ground looks like a half size Huish Park (which is also totally souless) but I guess at least FGR has roof cover for a large percentage of the away support unlike Huish.
