Title: Is Power trying to mirror the model of the likes of Pozzo and Jiang?
Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Monday, April 10, 2017, 22:15:57
Interesting article which I didn't consider relevant to STFC, until I got to the quote below ..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39558702

Quote
What kind of club is he taking over?

It's obvious that Granada have been deeply mired in a painful 'transitional period' since last year's takeover by Jiang Lizhang.

But in fact, the instability at the club goes back much further because former owner Pozzo - who is also in charge of Watford and Udinese - based his recruitment strategy upon an endless recycling of players between his three clubs.

Although that strategy helped earn Granada promotion into the top flight in 2011 and has kept them (just) in the top division ever since, it is hardly an ideal recipe for long-term success when most of your best players are either on loan from - or destined to join - one of the owner's other clubs.

Power as a poor man's Pozzo, is an allusion raised several times on here.

It comes up in this 25 page thread about Power..

we're living in a poundland version of the real world.

I once saw  Ron "Chopper" Harris leaving the Poundland shop in Regent's Street. That's the Swindon one. Not sure if the London one has a Poundland.

It's probably called Guinealand, just so we know our place.

Ring any bells?

Be interesting to see our resident Waterford fan's view on this...

That twitter doesn't look remotely official.

official in what way? I don't think its Ireland's equivalent of @efl , more an independent. point remains same.

doesn't look like a parody though.

Wait - a random fan page isn't allowed official access to football clubs, and we're surprised?

Probably wait for a bit more info (i.e. who is allowed?) before slagging Power off, I reckon.

I like our jousting.

I'm by no means defending Power, or agreeing with his treatment of the media. I'm just saying we don't know anything yet, other than the fact an unofficial fan page isn't allowed access apparently, which is not extraordinary.

It's a fan run page on Twitter with 2.5k followers, it's not a ban but simply a declined request to chat to a youth coach. Hardly the same as banning all local or national media outlets.

no not the same, but a change in media policy as per our own club.

The tweet says all youth coaches across four age bands, so bit more than "a declined request to chat to a youth coach", does seem to be wider than that, if the tweet is true.
