Title: Phone Line- Yay or Nay
Post by: Chubbs on Friday, March 3, 2017, 12:09:49
I plan on calling BT later to cancel my package and move other to Virgin. Only down side if Virgin can't offer me a phone line.
I don't really want to pay 18 quid a month for a phone line that's hardly used. So the question im asking myself is, can i get away with not having a phone line in my house?

Anyone is the same situation and have come across any issue with not having a phone line?

Ditto. The only difference I've noticed is not being called by people with strong accents claiming to be called Steve asking about my PPI/Windows/Whatever is the popular scam du jour this week

Same, although USA mobile phone operators re-use the numbers, so I do get calls asking where Steve is.

Ideally I would like just broadband and no phoneline, but as far as I'm aware most packages come with them both included together.

Does anyone know if there is a way for just broadband/fibre and no phoneline?

So, who have I been hassling for the last two years?  >:(

I have a phone line as it worked out cheaper. I haven't plugged a phone in and I don't even know what my number is

Virgin do broadband only deals. No line rental required. That's if you're in a cable area.

I have a phone plugged in because sky said I need one when I was having some issues to do line tests, never knew the number, still don't, my brother took the number down and before Christmas pretended to be a virgin media sales person to which I Lost my shit (I'm normally a very calm person) - I'd had a terrible experience and kept getting hassled by them. My brother phoned up 30 minutes later to apologise he felt that bad...whooops

You didn't recognise your own brother's voice?

I've not had a phone line for over 10 years. Generally you pay slightly more to not have one. I currently pay £26 a month for 50mb fibre internet with no phone or TV

No mobile signal in this house, so the phone line comes in handy.

I've got tv/phone/broadband package with Virgin. Bizzarely by removing the phone line my monthly bill would increase by 25p! The only person that's calls my land line is my mother!
