Anybody see this on Saturday night.

I spent a few years in Wantage, and this is very recognisable !

Found it reasonably enjoyable so far.
Filmed in Northleach.
They're brother and sister in real life, from Ciren.

Clearly fine schooling has done them no harm.

I found it scary how much like it was the people I grew up with and especially the people who got in the village pub. Wearing your football shirt 24/7 was typical early 90s fashio. When I think about some of the real life characters and their stories, some of them are funnier.

This has put me off :D

Her shirts have garnered a lot of attention among Town fans as she has a cracking selection of Town shirts. The unfortunate matter is the fact that the family who star in and write the show are all Pox fans! Making the tone and reasoning behind the shirts much less fun.

Clearly true. It's chav porn, let's laugh at the underclass. The Tory aim is to drive these people out of the country into the towns and cities, it's a process which has been going on for very many years. Since the 18th Century in England.

One of the actors called Sluggs.. actually lives across the road from me in Stratton, Ciren. Real last name is Sleggs.

Found the series really good so far.

You cannot tell from the programme that they are a married couple?

You'd have a good point if the show was mocking them for being poor/on benefits/ill educated/living on an estate etc.

Unfortunately (for you) it's none of those is it.

Isn't it  :hmmm:

Drama in This Country through a sort of media mafia is ruled by the public school elite.... wasn't always thus, but sadly is now....

for these people sneering at the plebs, is what they're brought up to do.

It does sound good. Must give it a watch.

I'm not very good with 'cringe' humour like The Office or Alan Partridge, I literally can't watch it anymore - is this similar?

Yep, saw that.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for young talent coming through, after all in a post Brexit Britain, we're not going to be making much from nuts and bolts to sell to the rest of the world, so it needs to be creative stuff.... TV, fashion, music, art, drama, design, sports, games etc.

It's ironic that the lurch to the right politically means capital wishes to control the means of production in these fields hence stifling talent that isn't easily sellable.

It's nicked the mockumentary format that The Office was built on, just like People Just Do Nothing does. The chap even looks and sounds like Gareth.

Pretty similar but a different setting.

It's a bit cringe for me. But as a Purton boy, a lot of the references and observations are very relatable, and all the funnier for it. Reg is over thinking it.

I love PJDN. I think it had just enough pathos to get away with the main character's obvious Brentness.

If it has potential to have a go at the Tories then Reg would overthink Peppa Pig

Good to see that the Coopers went to Deer Park rather than Rendcomb....there's hope yet. Although Rendcomb are in the process of building a new Performing Arts facility. From a Swindon perspective kids here probably think Deer Park is a fee paying school.

Powell's and Deer Park Reg, it's where all the cool kids go.

Is Purton like that, never actually been there but recently discovered that I have a sister buried in the church yard so should really try to get down there next time I visit the shire....

As another Purtonian, I probably need to watch this to see whether it rings true or not.

That makes me much happier. Got a big soft spot for Fulham.

3rd ep wasn't as good as the first two but still had its moments.

The irony now is they don't want them in the cities either.
Try and rent a 3 bed family home in London,Oxford,Reading,Bristol or Bath for less than £1000 per month.

There's a growing wealth apartheid in this country
No Housing Benefit is the new No Blacks,Irish or dogs, and seems to be perfectly acceptable to most people.

you'd do well to find a decent 2 bed place in Reading for under a grand p/m.

Try a studio flat under £1000pcm! Rooms in a house share will go for £800+ pcm these days.
