I've not watched wrestling in years, my knowledge lies in late 80's, 90's and early 00', when it was still decent.

I stopped  being interested when Kendo Nagasaki was unmasked and turned out to be an ex-plumber from Halesowen.

It took a massive dip, but it's gone back to being decent again now.

I do love this arguament.

Whilst its a very well known fact that wrestling is scripted, and the outcome is known, wrestling in a physical sense, is very real.
These guys put their body's through hell in order to provide entertainment. Yes, the punches and kicks are not exactly full force but there is no faking falling 30 foot onto your back, or having your ear ripped clean off.

From what i catch on Social Media and the like, there doesn't seem to be that Elite division or wrestlers any more, it seems that any tom, dick or harry can get a shot at the gold.

Perhaps. Although, you do have your class of Cena, Rollins, Lesnar etc... who are above everyone else in terms of superstardom IMO.

I stopped watching WWF around 23 years ago.
Most of the wrestlers in it when I watched it are dead.

Used to love it as a kid, but can't understand how adults still enjoy it.

My great aunt who was in her 80's used to love watching it on a Saturday afternoon on ITV when I was a kid, only time I have ever seen it - is Big Daddy still in it?

In terms of speculating who wins, are you actually able to bet on it taking account of the fact its all fixed?

To be fair, it's not much different to watching football these days.

They all go down after never/barely being touched..

Always found it a bit odd when adults like it, each to their own I suppose

the best adult explanation I heard was 'I treat it like a soap opera, it's my EastEnders'.

Have to confess I have been to a WWF  wrestling show in Birmingham as an adult. It was quite well choreographed to be honest.

anyway not for me, but each to their own.

Fair way to look at it that explanation, plenty of people get emotionally involved in soaps I guess.

Bloody loved it as kid, I was always a big Undertaker fan. Went to Wembley in 1992 for Summerslam I think it was, British Bulldog beat Bret Hart for the title

Bret Hart Vs Davey Boy Smith for the IC Title. Remember it well. DBS had Lenox Lewis with him iirc.

I've always thought it was a load of old shit, even as a kid. I can remember my friends reading their WWF magazines whilst I would flick through my match magazine and wondering what the big obsession was.

As an adult, I had an old flatmate up in Edinburgh who was massively into it, he would set the VCR up on a Friday night to record the Wrestling highlights package on Sky Sports. Back in those days the VCR would record whatever the channel was on, I came home lashed that night, put Sky Sports news on, went to bed and woke up the next day. My flatmate was livid as he had 3 hours of Sky Sports news recorded instead of his wrestling program!

So I agree its crap, have always though its crap and have never been to see it live. Do I win?

Used to get the Royal Rumble paid for every birthday until I was about 16...

Then I lost my virginity.
