Title: Under Threat
Post by: Private Fraser on Sunday, September 25, 2016, 15:30:51
I see that it's being reported that, not only are we under threat of a hefty fine, but also a points deduction if we don't stop 'terrorising' Referees, Linos and 4th Officials both on and off the pitch.

Incredible!  I wonder if it's just us or whether other clubs are being warned too.

Yes Luke Williams said this in the pre match interview yesterday.

We have to cut down our silly bookings too.

It would help if they got the key decisions right though! Yesterday's ref was pretty good, although can't remember any difficult decisions to make.

Takes the piss considering the nature of that disallowed goal against Bury.

Remember last season against Millwall and the previous season against Orient. The opposition caused the incident that led to a free for all...yet we got fined the most.

The Football League have had it in for us, as long as I can remember, which is quite a long time. Dating back to the fixed game v Port Vale in 1960.  Other efforts include the failure to fight for us to play in the what is now the Europa League for winning the League Cup, all topped by the decision of the FA to overturn the FL decision to relegate us 2 divisions to 1 and hence deny a top flight place.

Amazingly though we've always managed to avoid a points deduction for an illegible player or similar, given the chaos often surrounding the club, so I'd imagine it highly likely they'd like to get one in. Hopefully it won't have a bearing on the season.

This has got to be bollocks, looking at the last 3 games.....

Oldham we had one booking they had 3
Rovers we had three bookings they had 6!
Bury we had four bookings they had 6!

Knowing our track record with the FA we will probably get thrown out of the league though!

I don't mind if officials get a few things wrong, it happens. But to regularly get major decisions wrong is unacceptable and frankly if they can't get simple things right they deserve the shit they get thrown at them.

Although they should probably leave that to us. We've had too many stupid bookings.

Maybe we should start taking a record of all these decisions and then provide a dossier with explanation  - although we would probably be banished from the FL for doing that

The FL and referees have it in for us specifically?  A small town team playing against other small town teams in the 3rd tier of the league?  Really???

Do people wake up one morning in Taunton or Kidderminster or Stockton-on-Tees and think to themselves "I know, I'll qualify as a referee, slog my way through local leagues, senior leagues, semi pro and hopefully eventually get myself onto the league list so that one day I can turn up at the County Ground and fuck up Saturday afternoon for a few thousand people I've never met and don't care about"?

If we have a poor disciplinary record it's because we have poor discipline.

Fact of the matter is that football is largely corrupt from top to bottom, and has always been so....anything is possible.

no problemo, we have loads of spare cash after the second game against Rovers anyway

Nah. Power will have trousered that towards his next super yacht.  :). If it comes to it, they should just divide up any fine between the players (one share per game played).

I was more concerned about the threat of a points deduction.  But looking at the League's rules, it seems like they don't have the power to deduct points. They would have to ask the FA to set up a Disciplinary Committee hearing first.
