Title: Sir Bradley Wiggo
Post by: Dostoyevsky on Saturday, September 24, 2016, 18:19:09
Just a fleeting visit, anyone heard about Bradley Wiggins? Looks like one twattish poster might have been onto something.

See my fellow Swindonians next week at Scumsbury Town. Spot the Dosser day.  :beers:

PS: Mo Farrah is next. Does he have asthma too?

Russian revenge :suicide:

Ha ha.

I was wondering when you were going to pipe up about this, I bet you're loving it.

I reckon he had a hand in 9/11 as well.

What's all this about? Dossy say he was on drugs or something?

I am familiar with Dostoyevsky's.. Persistent nature. Bless him.

Don't know about Wiggo, but that fucker Farrah has been on the Quorn.

I'd rather admit to being on drugs than eating that shite

Isn't Quorn a meat alternative?! What is the fucking point in that?

I don't know if you've heard, but some people don't eat meat.

If you don't eat meat, why would you eat meatless 'meat'?!

Stick to the veg if you don't eat meat.

I'm sort of half vegetarian and I frequently go without meat, that stuff is just awful.

Why be a vegetarian and then eat fake sausages? It's like saying you're giving up sex but sticking it to a blow up doll twice a day. It's rubbish anyway and it's just not in the spirit of things is it?

Edit: sort of what Sippo said.

I'm not a full veggie or owt but I try to not eat meat every day. I can confirm that quorn is generally a bit shit, you can do much better stuff with beans and lentils and the like, but you do need to be a better cook which I guess is the advantage of quorn, you can just use it as a slightly disappointing replacement.

The mince is okay though. That said the Linda Mac sausages and pies are decent enough.

Same reason some lesbians go for women who look like men I guess.

Quorn is low in fat and high in protein, i've used it in chilli.

At the risk of feeding Dosser - the TUE doesn't prove he did anything wrong (within the rules)
If he'd been found to have the drugs in his system without a TUE he'd be suspended (see one of the Simon Yates this year)

But is it 'designed' for veggies as a meat replacement alternative?

That's what I don't understand. Does it taste like meat?

Yeah, they're not bad at all.

I'm not a vegetarian either, but I try and have a couple of meat free days a week.

I guess so, but it is what you make of it.

Er vaguely, depends if you can remember what meat tastes like (matron)

I often use the quorn mince for stuff like chilli or tacos, it's just filler really.

Surely proper mince is cheaper? You can get British lean mince from aldi for £2.

On the subject of Aldis, anyone managed to get any of their Wagyu burgers in any of the Swindon stores?

I'm not convinced that the store on Mead Way has ever had any.

On the bright side though they do always have bottles of Tribute for £1.25 a pop.

I eat more or less no meat, but will eat fish, seafood etc.  Quorn/Linda Mac stuff is OK, but only vaguely like meat....as has been mentioned mince is OK, burgers are OK if piled up with cheese, mustard, gherkins that sort of thing. Likewise sausages are OK if chopped up and included in stir fries etc.

Cooking with pulses is more fun, but does tend to require effort.

Hang on, you put sausages in a stir fry ? Not even that, but FAKE sausages?
Reginald, we need to have words.

Why not?  Source of protein, chopped up with a load of veg, herbs, garlic etc and some noodles....job's a good un.

Many years ago, when I was in 6th form - about 1980 I cleaned windows.
One of my customers was Jonathon Hurt who lived in Ascott under Wychwood - maybe still does, but I've not lived there for ages.

One day I went into his kitchen to get water and he had guests.
I was invited in for a cup of tea afterwards, and was joined by Eric Clapton (I didn't know who he was) and Paul McCartney (I knew who he was).

They used to love visiting Jonathon, because they could go in the Swan next door and play darts and dominoes like normal people and not be recognised or bothered.

Anyway, my point is, Paul McCartney cooked me a bacon sandwich, and I'm pretty sure he had one too.

Don't know he he was under the grip of Veggy-fascism at that time, but he definitely didn't have a problem with meat then.

IF Paul McCartney made you a bacon sandwich, the you win the internet.

I believe it. Linda was the Veggie, he was toeing the line as we all do. I bet he was in his shed every night eating bangers, smoking, and drinking. Anyway I get to test a lot of the quorn stuff as I'm the only meat eater in the house. The mince is rank, but some of the range are strangely tasty, particularly the mini eggs, and the cocktail sausages.

I got some from the town centre one a week or so ago - they were good

All this talk of vegetarian foods is somewhat ironic when you consider that Wiggins first professional team was the Linda McCartney Racing Team

The Swan is a really nice pub, nice and local to me

Get the angus gourmet burgers at half the price and actually better in my opinion.

People chuck all sorts of stuff in a non-traditional carbonara, cream being the most obvious one.
