As everyone has said its always Bollocks some saddo gets a thrill of putting this together every season- must have a sad life. No doubt everyone will be looking for the fixture for when we play the Yellow Scum and will be massive for them now they are in L1 which is like the premier league for that lot. They are the team I totally despise and hopefully we do the double over them this season.

Quote
2016/17 Fixtures Are A Hoax - Football League

With the weekend seeing the leaked release of a document purporting to be the 2016/17 fixture list for the Premier League and Football League, the Football League themselves have taken the step of slamming the concoction as a hoax.

No doubt plenty have seen the lists for all 92 clubs in the professional pyramid - or at the very least heard about it - and the Premier League set has certainly received coverage, but in a series of tweets the Football League confirmed that it was a hoax as simply put, with a release date of June 22, they were still ten days away from reviewing the first draft.

The three tweets sent read.

'We can confirm the 'fixture list' published online at the weekend is a hoax.'

'At this stage we are still about 10 days away from being able to review a first draft of the 2016/17 fixture list.'

'It's worth noting a number of the fixtures in the hoax list would ot be permitted on those dates for operational and policing reasons.'

When questioned to 100% confirm the hoax nature given the time it would've took to knock up such a piece, they replied.

'Yes. 100% a hoax. We're sure that time could have been put to much better use.'

And I agree, but it wasn't my time and it certainly raised the excitement levels a bit but come this time of year there's always a leak or two speculated about in the press and I can't recall one that turned out to be genuine.

But at least it made a change from leaked new strips and the like which also flood the newsfeeds at this time of the summer.

The Premier League are yet to comment, but I'm guessing they are content with the FL's words.

The Premier League fixtures will also be released on Wednesday June 15 at 9am, and the Championship, League One and League Two set follow a week later at 9am on Wednesday June 22.

I'm trying to see what somebody would hope to gain from such a hoax. I know hoaxes are often just for the 'shits and giggles' factor, but exactly what shit and giggles, or anything else, would somebody get from drawing up a fake fixtures list?

Although 6 or 7 years old the article below is probably still relevant as to what's involved with generating the actual fixtures.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/06/secrets_of_the_fixture_compute.html

We were affected in 2012 when the away game with Preston clashed with their 20 yearly Preston Guild event, so
the game was requested for the Sunday.

Could be both. Wasn't there a McMoan season when we beat City and Oxford (4-1) in a week but were doing badly that it couldn't save his job? Guess it would be 98/99?

I only have one problem with your analysis, and it goes something like this...at some point a question was raised with the FL, "why is it that we've been away for 9 years in a row on Boxing Day?"   The answer came back..."you asked for it"  apparently due to extra costs etc on Boxing Day the club asked to be away.  Now I'm sure Mr Power wouldn't do something similar  :hmmm:

Not bad really, home to Cov should be fairly well attended (from their side at least) and two derbies early on in the season although I've already got a gig booked for the Rovers game. Will try and get to Gills away on the 16th though  :pint:

Like the look of Charlton on the last day (although not with a noon ko!).

From completely selfish reasons, disappointed with the April away fixtures. Organising my stag to coincide with an away day so the choice is Fleetwood, Fleetwood or Fleetwood. Still, 45 mins direct from Manc so that'll be decent.

As Rich says back to backs with the Pox and Rovers could be a great or bloody awful week.

I'd say Bristol City (a) but the idea of losing or winning and then being congratulated for thinking that we've 'won the cup in August' or 'won your cup final' or 'No, no, no' isn't worth my while.

I'm sure that I'd somehow get more stick for Swindon winning, just like in 2014/15.

Damn sure the pox or Rovers are a better pairing than Millwall, esp as no trains on a boxing day.
