Title: Data Roaming Post by: DarloSTFC84 on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 12:56:09 Ok, so I'm off to Florida in September..
I'm on EE, and their data roaming is £3 per day for 10MB.. once it's used up it doesn't roll over, it just cuts off. Then you just buy another £3 bundle. I'm not very technically minded when it comes to usage, so can anyone tell me whether this is worth it, realistically only using the odd bit of Social Media and WhatsApp, am I going to use 10MB quickly? Also, does anyone have any other ideas? I know in the US most places have WiFi, but I'm just wondering what other options there are? Fully expecting to me called a cunt. Thanks in advance. Title: Re: Data Roaming Post by: Berniman on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 13:29:43 Roaming in the US is stupidly expensive, full stop. You will go through 10MB in no time, so I would stick to Wifi, and just save the £3 10MB thing for emergency use when you can't find Wifi.
Either that or look at purchasing a US PAYG simm for while you are over there. Title: Data Roaming Post by: Batch on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 15:48:04 three payg + £20 = 12gb, +25 =ayce. you need to convert credit to an add-on that lasts 1 month.
worth considering for a temporary measure. you'd need an unlocked phone that will take a three sim card of course. using it in Tenerife as I type. got to go, the sea lion show is about to start http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Phones/Feel_At_Home (http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Phones/Feel_At_Home) edit, ha, they have the same safety bongs as the county ground here Title: Re: Data Roaming Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 17:37:33 Just use WiFi, innit.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact in airplane mode in Turkey Title: Re: Data Roaming Post by: DarloSTFC84 on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 17:38:49 Yeah, that's probably what I'll do...
I have the option of paying £3 for a 10MB 24 hour 'emergency' bundle if needs be. Title: Re: Data Roaming Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, May 29, 2016, 21:49:23 10mb seems rather low
Title: Re: Data Roaming Post by: DarloSTFC84 on Sunday, May 29, 2016, 21:58:08 But for a couple of WhatsApp messages/pictures, would I use that up?
I'd switch it off once I've done that so I wouldn't be using any more data.. Title: Re: Data Roaming Post by: jayohaitchenn on Monday, May 30, 2016, 08:31:44 Go to one of the pictures and check it's file size. If it's a *.bmp it could easily be 3mb+ in size. So 10mb gets you about 3 picture messages.
Although to be fair, i'm struggling to think of an emergency situation where i'd forward a dank meme. Gave up and relied on the wifis Title: Re: Data Roaming Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, 17:58:13 Obviously this may rub salt into Darlo's wounds but for anyone else on Vodafone you can pay £5 a day to use your price plan (including data) or £3 in the EU. Was quite handy to use google maps when I got lost in Germany.
