Post by: horlock07 on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, 10:45:06
Are we due a new shirt this coming season, what with the apparent departure of Imagine Cruising (only based on hwat I have read on here) I assume so changes will be afoot?

Still Puma but with The Advertiser as the main sponsors, Agombars Ticket Emporium on the back and Fanzai on the shorts.

I heard it was to be one of Power's companies.....like on the side of the team coach. Not Williams or Barnes obviously.

I'd quite like for the Football League and Premier League to adopt the NFL's tactics. Sign up for a shirt/kit design and have a contract to stick with the same one for 3/4 years.

A younger me used to feel excited about seeing the new kit every year... I guess I've just grown out of that now..

Should start buying adult sizes. That should help with your issue of the kit being too small for you.

Happy to help.

That's because our kits used to be our kits. We didn't know exactly what we were going to get.

Now we know exactly what template it will be. Also apart from the STFC specific things - it's exactly the same as everyone else's with the same manufacturers

You're far too young to bemoan everything about modern football, at least when Reg does it he has a modicum of believability!

We don't know which template it will be but if you fancy having a go at creating an imagined what it might look like from the Puma 2016-17 range, and working yourself and/or others into a state of frothing indignation on the basis of that, then there's a link here to Puma's accredited reseller's Kit Builder page:

Do your worst, get a screen grab, post it here and see if you can make DV cry :)

That's interesting. I like the red & black quarters from 1894-1898.
Being with one of the bigger kit suppliers precludes a club going for a more custom design (with a nod towards it's history) I guess. Probably more expensive as well.

They used to be sponsored by the sweet 'Millions' which was very popular with the kids at shool when I lived up there (not Morton, but in Scotland)

That is a diabolical shirt and why have they got rid of their blue and white hoops? I hope our new strip and sponsor (if we are getting one) are a lot better than that effort.

Why would/should there be at this time of year after a disappointing season.

Would the announcement of a new sponsor make the slightest bit of difference and here's a thought: Maybe they don't know themselves who the new kit sponsor is yet?

Like my previous quote said.. 'I mean in general' - there hasn't been much/any communication all season..

I don't mean specifically regarding the shirts, that will happen when it happens.. but in years gone by, we used to get little nuggests of news/information that would make things a little interesting/exciting.

Yeah, the last few days... I meant throughout the whole season... I'm neither here nor there.. I don't really look out for it myself.. I refer to here for my 'news updates' but throughout the season a lot of things have been kept in the dark, and that's pissed off the fans. Again, I don't give a fuck who runs the club, how it's run or whatever.. I only care about the football.. I have too much going on in my life to want to follow the intricacies of the running of a football club. However, when fans are used to getting loads of news/possible news updates all season long, then that stops, it's not hard to see why THEY become disinterested.. It was just a thought, that's all.

No. Some are actually complaining now about the lack of news on the sponsor front. People ARE complaining about THAT.

Just 10 days after the final game has been played, and despite receiving news about a new signing and contract extensions, among other things, people ARE complaining about not have a news update on a sponsor..... something that the club themselves may not even be sure themselves of yet.

If people feel despondent for whatever reason, then that's their prerogative, but to moan about something such as sponsors when there may not even be any news to be told..... nah!

I think I'll keep clear of this thread from now.

I bought last seasons shirt yesterday.

The club communicated via social networks that there was 60% off. I thought, "I haven't bought one since Di Canio was in charge, and this one isn't too bad and could prove useful in various scenarios". So I bought it. The process was really easy from seeing the tweet, to the email I received acknowledging my purchase.

All in all, I felt connected to the club and I was pleased with my relatively cheap new puma shirt I will probably only wear to the gym and to work to piss off the Reading fans.

STFC 1948-51 was flashy by comparison.

Small thing I know, but I like the numbers on the new shirts.

Anyone know when the new away shirts are due in? It's my lad's birthday on Tuesday, would be nice if they were in time.

That second one is fucking abysmal.

I've had a season ticket for the last 150 years but this is the final straw, Power out!

Only 150 years?

Then you have no right what so ever to have an opinion. However those keeper shirts need to be a grower because currently they're shocking.

This clearly shows a lack of ambition. Power wasn't willing to pay more for the nicer goalie shirt. Hewlett out!

Another season with highly visible goalkeepers, giving opposition strikers an even better chance of scoring.

As if all the empty red seats behind both goals won't be a big enough target.   :)

Funny you should say that.. There was actually a study done as to how the 'keepers shirt affected penalties, and red was more effective
