Title: Seamus Brady
Post by: Bob's Orange on Saturday, November 28, 2015, 17:47:51
New sporting director, ex Villa.

Apparently was performance analyst for Sherwood at spurs and villa.

Would have been an easy role at villa - monthly report, 'we're shit' and repeat.

Ex-Tottenham too. Timmy took him from youth to first-team when he went up too. Then to Villa. Background is as a coach and then into video analysis.

The key is in the first 3 words of the OP.

Haha! I did edit the post to be fair.

Don't know a lot about him apart from worked with Sherwood at villa and Spurs.

Think he just watched videos and stuff.

@BBCWiltsSport: Chairman Lee Power says #Stfc to appoint sometime #avfc man Seamus Brady as Sporting Director

Just a few things on twitter, no links to anything press wise. I think Sam may have known about this a few weeks back going by his post on twitter.

Interesting that he expects him to handle meetings with the Council etc - an ex video analyst. Would have thought that is more Steve Anderson's role.

Suppose you can give anybody a title - it means nothing without the job spec. Ling isn't your average manager is he. God knows where the split of responsibilities lie with the club at the moment.

I think Steve Anderson is Power's imaginary friend. A couple of people claim to have meet him, but I'm not sure what he does which given he's GM is surprising.

My understanding is that his meetings with the council will be limited to getting the permissions etc. for the new training ground - his main responsibility at the moment is to get that project up and running!  After that, who knows . . . . . . .

Not to anyone's knowledge.  His original remit seemed to be to do with recruitment, and looking after the shop when Power is away.

Recruitment has been abysmal, and we've been relegated with what has been widely regarded, as the worst management combo and squad in our history. Not exactly a glittering CV.....

Club Sec is one of the most demanding jobs in the club.

Re Brady - was Jeremy "Nutty" Newton head of the academy?

EDIT - Nutty is still there, as academy manager.

ooooh, a proper Club Secretary, have we had one of those since the 90's?  reg will now list them all.

They have a very important role to play in using the FL & FA fax machines that still seem to be in use on transfer deadline days, they also ensure proper player registrations and look after the suspensions etc. as I remember them.  make sure the club ticks all the boxes properly and follows the rules and regulations.

It was around the turn of the century, with the first Admin, and Diamond Mike etc, that it became as clear as mud what was going on in the background at STFC admin (with a small a) wise. This would be partly caused by the present trend of giving people stupid names for jobs... eg was Sandy Gray the secretary, or Mike Squires?

Essentially it's been a revolving door, long gone are the days when everyone would know Ron Morse or Bob Jefferies. I seem to recall at some point there was a young lass called Lisa something or other, who you'd have thought a receptionist, who seemed to be in charge. Ron Morse did 33 years, some of recent lot more like 33 days.

I once saw Dave King, out at the Tunnel House, Coates. I'd pedalled out there for lunchtime beers, it was the height of the illegal payments scandal... I think he was hiding for fear of fan retribution.

I said earlier that the way the club is run is Div 4 upper Conference at best, so a fella from Eastleigh should do just fine.

Your knowledge of admin structures and club management at all lower league clubs is incredible and must be applauded.

Maybe it stems from his in-depth knowledge of how STFC operates. He seems to know every detail about that as well.

Brady was as much a 'jobs for the boys' appointment as Tactics Tim was.

This latest move is laughable - Flitcroft made it clear when approached that one of his key conditions of taking the role, in addition to ownership of recruitment, was Brady having no involvement with the first team. He should have been moved on altogether - he simply is not qualified for his new position.

I also note we now have a CEO for the first time since Watkins....they have kept that one quiet.

Anderson is the "club manager" not CEO, unless I have missed something, we haven't promoted anyone to be "CEO", the only staff recruit is a club secretary who came from Eastleigh - http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/football/eastleighfc/15446744._Mr_Unflappable__leaves_Eastleigh_for_Swindon_Town/

so are you saying he's been promoted to CEO, or left the role.

Still bemused that we have people like Brady and Anderson at the club whose role is somewhat invisible. Either could be fantastic at their job but who knows
