Post by: DarloSTFC84 on Saturday, November 7, 2015, 03:07:48
So... back to winning ways?

1-3 away win.

Thompson, Obika and Ajose..

Ling to run up the touchline at the end, like Di Canio at Northampton.

Will lingy go for 2 up top or will he replace gladwin with robert playing just behind lone striker? Will Belford get a goal? New manager syndrome leads to 2 1 Town win. Robert and Obika to score for us

"long", we'll be ok now if Shane Long has now taken over as manager, plays himself upfront and our problems are over!  Could we sneak a lucky draw?

I will quite happily take a draw as still in Oz until Wednesday and a replay would suit. A win on the road would be better though as we definitely need a confidence booster.

Rochdale's twin town is Bielefield in Germany. A 0-0 draw today will result in a test series against the the 'dale including the league game at the CG on 12th December. Away to Didcot in the second round please.

A win would be nice.

My buzz factor is zero at the minute, with very little enthusiasm for football in general.

It was minus figures but last nights BBC 'love in' of Salford City geed me up a bit as I so wanted a really shit Notts county side to beat them....but like everything this season, it wasn't to be.

I enjoyed the Salford game last night, a victory for the way the game should be played.
A defeat today in the region of 3 - 1

Our problem is poor players, which won't change with ML, as he's stuck with the same as Cooper had, and can't bring in replacements. Therefore if the players are at all capable of better it should happen straight away. One thing that has been niggling away is the feeling that given the pitches and weather so far this season have been very much in our favour, we may now get worse as we approach winter.

I can see us winning this, then getting someone like Oxford or Rovers in the next rpund and losing.

I can also see a win today being followed by a return to normal service next week,  leading us all to wish we could trade a cup win for 3 points.

Been on the happy pills again Reginald?

I remember seeing us win at Spotland in 84, about this time of year in similar weather conditions....Macari was still playing, and we had a handful of decent players left over, plus some newbies Lou was trying to forge into a team. Not a great side, but you could sense that Lou, was instilling into them some effort....on the day Colin Gordon came on for a debut, scored and ended up with 17, by season's end.

We'd picked up Gordon from park football, he looked like that McNulty at Luton, but on the day bundled one in fairly late on, barely visible through the muck and rain. With full time training you could see Gordon morph from a fat fucker into something more like a footballer.

The Town hardcore, could see that although results were patchy particularly on the road the team played with a spirit, especially at the CG, which is why when Macari was sacked, the fans demonstrated successfully for his return.

We need to see some battling spirit now, in order to convince the present day hardcore.

It's so that Daddy will keep loaning us players isn't it, that was the reason we signed him in the first place, someone ITK on the TEF told me ;)

But yeah, he's been a bit shit recently and doesn't really deserve his place, although I'm not sure it's a direct choice between him & Robert for central midfield

Nothing to lose he admitted himself he didn't think he'd get another, so he'll be paid up for 2.5 years, even if sacked in Jan/Feb which is highly likely unless he can work a miracle and get a competitive side out of what he's got to work with.

Exactly, either work on defending to try and keep a clean sheet, or really go for it from the start & try and outscore the opposition. We don't appear to do either.

From the last two games I attended,  we just have to turn our play 90 degrees and we should be fine.
In all seriousness this is heading towards the dire football matchday experiences from 8 to 10 years ago.  Damned if I can be bothered to make the effort to turn up if the team can't.

Chalky mentioned it in comms a couple of times, didn't like his body language at all and the fact that he didn't fight to get the ball back when he lost it. I felt as though he (Chalky) wanted to call Kasim a lazy, disinterested cunt but had to hold back.

If we are to turn this round getting, at the very least, a functioning defence is a must.

Attack Barry down the left, Branco feels he has to move over as well to cover his cock-ups and there's the main problem.

Get in a half decent left full back, not a midfielder or defender who can be squeezed in as an after thought and it'll plug that gaping weakness.

How Barry ever gets picked I'll never know.

If clubs see him not being picked by us it hardly inspires confidence for any prospective buyer.

Our best performance this season was the 1-0 win at Southend.......

Code:
                                                                                         Vigs
                                                                              Nathan T, Branco, Turnbull, Boo
                                                                                           Williams
                                                                                       Rodgers, Kasim
                                                                                    Byrne, Smith, Robert

Only one up front but shape and balance, and some individual quality.....and a chance for the newbies like Boo to settle in. I'd hazard a guess such a side might keep you up...the loss of Smith and Byrne, and then the injuries has just been too destabilising  :(

That's the key thing. It all went to shit once Byrne went. Some didn't rate him, but even if he wasn't playing well. he would still keep 2 defenders on guard, freeing up space elsewhere for others. We don't have that now.

seemed pretty good to me, particularly given it was very reasonably priced.   before so went for a spicy sausage to start, Lamb with feta main. never had Greek before so nothing to compare with.

Tried the Greek Olive for the first time a few weeks ago. Having come back from Crete the weekend before I have to say that it is amazingly authentic. I even tried my rubbish Greek out on the staff and they fawned over me for trying. Particularly the dark haired waitress in her thirties  8)

I think that they are Cypriots though but that's cool.

We need a night out Sutton. Get you back to your yoof mate

Actually I have a plan. You need to come to Scunny next weekend sans children. We have a night out planned. You need to book an hotel though as you are not staying at mine. The last time I was generous enough to do that the hairy faced drunken wanker stumbled into both of my daughter's bedrooms and gave them nightmares for weeks.

I was not popular for many a moon...

The boy Stewart was earmarked as replacement, but yet to work out for him, obviously the staff see him in training etc and must know he's not yet ready.

I'd question whether a few others are ready yet or is it that they're just totally shit?

Back in Saltash, cba to read through. We were shit throughout, no supply up front and we were back to looking dodgy at the back.

Kasim, ojamma, rodgers and Barry were shite, the rest not much better. We made Rochdale look half decent.

Fair play to those who travelled up, any number given?

Just got back, that was as shit as anything we've played this season. Ojamaa, Rodgers, Barry and Balmy are non-league standard players, Kasim could not give a fuck.

Decent atmosphere from the Town fans today, it was a very low turnout (150-200) but we made some noise. There's normally a few that travel up on the train to Northern games but we didn't see any on the way up!

Bumped into some nutty United fan on the way back, "Are you Swindon fans then?", "Yep", "My mum died in Swindon". He then said to someone who had gone red in the face from drinking that they looked like they had thrush on their face.

Fair play to anyone who took the time to travel today after the shit we've been watching lately, especially you travelling from Saltash, I'm finding it difficult to travel to the CG these days let alone making the effort to attend away games.
Regarding the poor defensive record we need to look right at the back,  That useless cunt Vigouroux has got to go,  How many more fuck ups is he going to be allowed to make before we fuck him off ????,   He's cost us more points this season than any other player on the pitch. No wonder Liverpool let us have him, or is it the same story as Rogers -  small print says we have to play him - Can't see any other reason for us playing him - Get him out.

Very unfair about Vigs! I feel he has been a great addition to the squad and when you compare him to Belford he looks like
Buffon. The player I am more sceptical about is Barry. I feel he would make David Duke look like Roberto
Carlos. On a scale of 1 to diabolical how dreadful was Barry today?

It is an old reference to when the Welsh mining community went on their annual holidays by train to Porthcawl. It be came known as hi ya butt bay. "Hi ya butt " being a localised greeting, as in hello me old china or watcha mate, hello me lovlies etc.

Rodgers and Ojamma are joke players too but at least Rodgers has the odd moment of brilliance. Ojamma is still living off the the glory of his carefully edited YouTube archive and Barry is like the fat boy who is the sponsors son in Mike Bassett manager. Even a disinterested Kasim looks better than most of our team. Wish we could work out what's going on there.

I was being facetious really :) I don't think he'd be here if absolutely nobody saw potential in him though.
As PlymRed pointed out, several players have been somewhat unfairly thrust into first team action that they're clearly not ready for. I can't imagine the plan was to have a guy with 0 experience play so many minutes, asked to play in a variety of positions and as part of a defence that is about as solid and consistent as a cupasoup. I find him less frustrating than Ojama who at least has some sort of reasonable background in football.

Ojamaa is the most annoying for me. Clearly came with a rep & some pedigree & either isn't being utilised properly or just can't be arsed as the talent is clearly there. Rodgers is neat & tidy & is ok to bring on to help close games out when we're winning as his ball retention is very good but when we need to break teams down & penetrate he offers very little & at times has been a passenger this season. If he keeps Robert out next week then something is clearly wrong. As for Barry I've seen enough of him to conclude that he isn't good enough. As somebody mentioned earlier so many attacks come down our right hand side & Branco's performances have suffered as a result of having to cover Barry on numerous occasions. Sooner NT is back the better.

I disagree. There are no really bad real ales from any brewery. The problem is how they are kept in the cellar. Arkells when not kept well has the tendancy to be gash but then i habe had other gash beers too.

What makes me smile is this "Arkells is shit" retoric. I'd put money on it that a lot of people who say it have never tried it. Or they are comitted lager drinkers who don't like real beer period and by that measure Arkells and all other real ales are shit by association. Also Arkells does feature very highly at beer festivals around the country and is highly regarded.

Having just heard a small part of Lingy's post match interview I was pleasantly surprised by his honesty in the summing of the performance - it was not good enough, areas we need to work on!  Our previous incumbent would have been telling us we deserved something from the game and everybody worked hard for each other - which clearly has not been the case!
