When I try to view the YouTube clips that people stick on here, it says something like "internal error 400" and starts to try and download (this is on my smartphone). What's happening??   ???
Also, when I stick YouTube clips on here it never sticks them up with a picture link, although it use to. Yes, I've even tried removing the 's' from https.  :(

What phone are you using?

With links, you're probably posting the shortened links that start with youtu.be  - you need to use the full youtube.com/watch? URL.

To update, so everyone knows, all copied youtube links should now work without editing.

Adding to that, after Samdy asked here (http://thetownend.com/index.php?topic=39090.msg1359900#msg1359900), webm and gifv support has been added, I think.

To use webm and gifv (which I believe are the same thing?) just enclose in [wm]...[/wm] tags. And for looping, use [wml]...[/wml].

I'm not sure this will work flawlessly off the bat, so let me know if there's issues.

Edit: It supports .webm and .gifv extensions and has only been tested with imgur.com

Anyone else having problems with Youtube videos in posts?

They just appear as a black bar for me.

think it has something to do with Google changing some shit to do with the APIs. I'll look into it over the next week or so.

I only ever frequent this forum on an Ipad & I can never view people's links they've posted.

I saw a black bar again just now, so I went to 'modify post' so I can see the code.

Until a few days ago, that always worked ok.  Never saw a black bar until very recently.

It appears Google's changed something significant with the way in which it allows us to embed videos, so once I have a few hours to fuck around with the code, it'll all be sorted. Or it won't.

Should now all be corrected and working - i think. Sadly only tested on my phone (which worked anyway) and chrome on a Windows 7 pc, which also appeared to work anyway.

Cheers FH. For some reason, it now uses the old API when the link is http, but uses the new API on https. What's more bizarre is the new script that embeds the videos strips all that off. Cunty. I'm tired, next week I'll look again.  :crash:

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I now have exactly this problem as well. Does anyone have a solution? Am using Safari on and iPad. Noticed the issue within the last couple of weeks, no updates on my device in that time.

No YT video previews showing at all, just blank space. Makes the “your favourite song at the moment” thread very sad  ;D

Possibly third party cookies and something to do with blocking tracking would be my guess. Maybe. Do you know if you’re accessing the forum securely? I’m fine on my iPad and iphone, so can’t be too sure yet

It says “not secure”, though I couldn’t say if that has changed recently.
