Title: Jordan Stewart
Post by: Sir Pissalot on Sunday, September 6, 2015, 10:44:55
It seems he didn't feature in the matchday squad at all yesterday:

Any new on his latest absence from squads?? As somebody mentioned in another thread it's hard to see how he's not getting on the bench ahead of Iandolo!!

Not injured. According to ASD the club are taking it slowly with him.

Fuck knows why when they are happy enough to chuck BOO, Iandolo and Brophy in and around the match day squad.

I think most fans are anxious to see him play and it does seem strange why he is given the Lord Lucan treatment

Really need to let the kid play. From what I've seen he could be a game changer so is ideal to give 10-15 minutes to if nothing else.

Is it possible that extra money may have to be paid for appearances before January or something? Could be trying to save some money

Nah, silly me.

You're probably right, but that hasn't stopped them playing others that obviously not ready - BOO, Barry and Brophy plus Iandolo

Yeah, the not ready card isn't really viable when Iandolo is getting in squads ahead of him. He's got decent experience with Glentoran & has played in qualifiers for European club comps so surprised we haven't seen more of him yet!! Him being injured would be a logical explanation but I hadn't read anywhere that he was.

Yeah, he's def an out & out winger from the clips I've seen of him. Gotta wonder why he's not on the bench as a potential game changer though. & if he's supposedly not ready get him out on loan so he's getting some experience elsewhere.

Simplistic way of looking at it. No reason why he couldn't function where Gladwin has been the last couple of games, in front of a solid two in the middle. Supply the front two and shoot on site.

Simplist way of looking at is is assuming he can just play that role without ever seeing him play there. We been on a bad run and need results, I am sure if good enough he will be playing.

None of us have really seen him play anywhere, but he played centrally at Millwall and was less bad than most, plus seemed to play centrally in the youtube clips that did the rounds too.

He's featured already though, he had 30 mins against Millwall, so it's odd that he hasn't featured at all since, not even making the bench. I wonder if he's still a bit unsettled?

It's probably not been noticed with recent events....but there's been a major crisis in Norn Island.

Clearly Jordan has been in the forefront of the restoration of Power sharing. Who now shares half his time with Stormont.

Cost us taxpayers a few bob, mind.

I've not bought the club's line of bedding him in slowly. We've been quite happy to have Iandolo on the bench, who must be at the same stage of development or even behind. Stewart was paid for, Iandolo a free transfer triallist. Homesickness, disciplinary issues? Who knows. A shame because the clips we saw of him looked promising.

Not really a lot of difference to the Louis situation. We get a potentially good player for the future. They get to keep his services for a bit longer and develop him further.

Or in fact Gladwin, bigger teams buy off smaller teams and then loan out for experience, may have made more sense to try and loan out to day D4 but may also help to alleviate any homesickness and allow the lad to get a little older.

Still disappointing we haven't seen him. It surely wasn't the intention to buy him and loan him back.

Just listened to interviews with Power and Williams

Stewart - had trouble settling into professional football, not just homesickness. Needs to 'show it' every day - hope he can as its easy not to make it . I paraphrase Williams there, but you get the gist.

Pino - Power believes he's physically left the club. They aren't going to pursue him, change of manager blah blah.

Couple of other bits I'll add to the transfer rumours page.

Sounds like a confidence thing with Stewart, cant be easy going from part time, and a day job, to a pro where you potentially have 20 hours a day to kill. He's only young so plenty of time.

So Jordan Stewart isn't ready to even sit on the bench but a 16 tear old first year apprentice is? And when said 16 year old  comes on he does his best and grabs his chance by being positive. Much the same as Stewart did in a no win situation at Millwall but hasn't been given opportunity to do since. Is he actually still even there or like Traore is he dealing with stuff elsewhere?

Turnbull obviously travelled to Vale but then not risked. Surely it was worth the likes of Tom Smith being there? Have the youth team got no centre halves? Chances of Nathan Thompson suffering yet another injury seem pretty high to me surely had to be worth some sort of cover. Its all very well saying you want a small tight knit squad but not when you obviously don't have sufficient cover in key positions.

Sadly due to a combination of factors, we're back to looking like a rudderless ship heading for the rocks, 2 of the next 4 we've ColU away and Blackpool home, I'm writing off anything from Priestfield and London Road. The 2 v fellow relegation candidates require at least 4 points, otherwise things could get nasty...

So Jordan Stewart isn't ready to even sit on the bench but a 16 tear old first year apprentice is?

Quote from: Williams
“Jordan has had a difficult time settling,” he added.

“It is not only a change of environment and coming out of the comfort zone in terms of his family and friends and network of people around him, he has also struggled with settling into full-time football and understanding that every single day of the week you have to perform and compete.

“It has taken a period of time for Jordan to adjust and we are hoping he does get there because we know he has got qualities of a player. Unless you can function day-to-day then there is no guarantees that you are going to make it.”

Doesn't sound to me like he's over impressed Williams in training, to the extent that he'd rather have a 16 year old on the bench in preference.

Nothing against Young mind.

I've not bought the club's line of bedding him in slowly. We've been quite happy to have Iandolo on the bench, who must be at the same stage of development or even behind.
So Jordan Stewart isn't ready to even sit on the bench but a 16 tear old first year apprentice is?
Different players develop differently. There's not an age chart you can mark off and say "Right, now you're 18, you will be here". Bit fatuous to make these kinds of comparisons, really. They're just different players/people

Torn his cartilage and 'done' his MCL, whatever one of those is. According to the man himself on twitter.

That would be the one.
I've had a couple. Extremely painful, but in theory he could return to training within a week. Really depends.

Looks like he could be playing in the development game tomorrow.

Our prayers have been answered.

I've still not seen him play. sounded like he was coming into a bit of form and had knuckled down before the injury

Stewart and Young. Both could be very useful if we continue to play wide forwards/Murray as a support striker. On Saturday, there was no way to replace Iandolo but with putting Norris on. Young is reportedly naturally a wide striker, Stewart is built like one.
