They're now down to 9 men.. Kieran Wallace has been sent off for them too... He's a young lad though, so I'm not sure if he's a first team regular or not..

They have had two sent off now, trying to even it up with all our absentees.  :D

Played the last 2, so every little helps, when we're down 5 or so players.

I've always found Blades fans to be a sound bunch....when you ship 10 goals at a venue the previous season, it's going to leave a bit of psychological scarring.  There's plenty of other club's fans who'd be going on about the idiots on the pitch at the end....

Byrne's a good player for this level, but I find the hype surrounding him to be a bit over the top.

None of the games with our players are until at least Thursday. I'd imagine the teams will allow them to play this weekend.

Shef Utd forum is a laugh, massive defensive problems with players injured/suspended. Panicking about Bryne mainly due to previous history but also our front duo of obika and smith. O if they knew. Their front 4 of salmon, sharp, JCR and Che is probably the best you will find in the league. Hopefully they play like they did at gillingham. Midweek cup run out can't have helped.

Tough game even with their 2 players being sent off on Tuesday. Sammon and Sharp upfront worries me especially with our ropey defence. Byrne has capability to rip their defence apart though. Would take a draw now.

Remember when Wednesday were down in league 1 giving it all the 'billy big bollocks', you just don't seem to get the same level of arrogance from the blades.

Every Club has a fair proportion of fans who are utter dicks.

Every Club (and I mean EVERY Club) also have a very good proportion who are pretty good blokes.

Strip away the testosterone/Stella fuelled match day dick waving rubbish and sit down with them one to one and we're all pretty much the same really.

Agreed...and as someone who has a lot to do with the community work of clubs up and down the country, EVERY club is doing fantastic, and usually unsung work around their area.  But we mustn't let facts get in the way of a good dose of tribalism....

Last season was a really good comparison. Bristol City and Sheffield United.

Where a lot of Bristol City fans think they are big enough to be in the Prem (which, economically the city should be) and not shutting up about how big they are.

Then there's the majority of United fans that just seem like they're quietly going about their business with being in League One. They know they're big and have history, but they don't go on and on about it.

I think anyone with half a brain cell realises every club has dickheads and decent fans. You just go by what you see; maybe you meet the dickheads more or less. It's not genuine hatred, and I think football would lose something without it.

I laugh at Shrewsbury because I've met some truly awful supporters of theirs but that doesn't mean if a decent fan wanted to talk about the game over a pint afterwards I wouldn't relish it.

I know it's stating the obvious but that doesn't seem to stop people making generalizations about the fans of particular Clubs. For example, there will be Blades fans who 'hate Swindon and their scumbag fans' because of what happened after the P/O game last season when we know it was maybe only a dozen out of several thousand.  It's just a bit silly and is the reason I made the point.

I know what you are saying there Red Frog and I don't disagree with it but at the same time, you've unintentionally made one of those generalizations I'm talking about - We think of a 'Chelsea Fan' and we think of a member of the 'armchair generation'. It's frightening to think that there is a whole generation of football fans (23 years we are constantly being reminded of by the latest billboard campaign) who never knew life before the Premier League. These days it would seem that you choose your team almost as if you are selecting it from a Freemans Catalogue. So we now have young men claiming to be (quite justifiably in their minds) 'life long' Chelsea fans when they've not come within - literally - 100 miles of London SW6. Howewer, there are a hell of a lot of 'proper' Chelsea fans who can answer the question 'Where were you when you were shit?' by saying 'I was at the Bridge, mother fucker, fuck you!'...they go back to the days of Bobby Tambling or Kerry Dixon or Peter Osgood or Ron Harris etc. It's in their blood and I'm sure they hate the 'Sky Generation' as much as we do.

I was only really thinking that I instinctively have more time for anyone who stays committed to an unfashionable local team than one who, by choice or otherwise, sucks up the tsunami of PL bullshit. Also intended as a provocation to the baser element of tribalism which blindly hates anything Scum. I worked regularly in Oxford for 25 years know plenty of decent OUFC fans (obviously).
