Mrs Audrey has upgraded her phone and says I can have her old i-Phone 4. Got a new sim from Giff Gaff - only £5 a month! - but it seems I have to unlock it from her provider. Is there a simple way of doing this or is it a load of techie bollocks? The cost is dependant on the network it was locked to. EE / Orange are the most expensive. £40 to unlock an Iphone 4 from Orange in the dodgy place in emery gate in chippenham. Probably cheaper elsewhere but I dont understand it so just said yes.

I got my iPhone 5S unlocked for free by o2 when I went to america. Check the networks website as most offer doing it for free now I think. Vodafone have an online thing, then you get an email, plug it in to iTunes and it's sorted. Done it with 2 phones, quite painless.
