Title: Red Army Fund
Post by: PetsWinPrizes on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, 07:07:18
It's been mentioned elsewhere, but thought it deserved its own thread. Please have a look at the Trusts new Red Army Fund Website. It's worth it for the video of an animated Sam Parkin alone.

Saw a pic of the trust T-shirt on FB and thought ooh am having that.
Then read the article   :suicide:
£10 a month

There are cheaper options, but admittedly you don't get a t-shirt for that!

Is there a way they will just sell the t-shirts?

Will ask, but suspect they will be kept as reward for those signing up for the silver and gold packages. Much in the way Kickstarter campaigns give you more the more you donate.

Is there a way they will just sell the t-shirts?

At the last Trust board meeting it was decided that all the 'gifts' will only be available to people who sign up to the packages, so the only way to get the shirt is to sign up to the silver or gold package.

As PWP says above, it's is like a Kickstarter campaign, where the more you give, the more you get.

So how does this effect existing members of the Trust? And, come to that, existing donors to the (old) Red Army Fund?

Didnt Power say he wouldnt expect to have a roof on the bank due to complications and objections when it goes to planning?

The old Red Army Fund was disbanded last year after discussions with the Supporters Club, the last of those funds were spent on Harry Toffolos wages last season.

He did think there might be problems with the houses behind, drop the overall height a bit and they might get away with it!

I'll seek an answer from the Trust Board member dealing with this, but I'd politely suggest they may have looked into it further than Power.

The roof is planned below the clock and scoreboard, so there should not be any objections.

If it was to fund a new Town End Stand I think they would get a lot of support. The idea of putting my hand into my pockets to part with hard earned cash just to put a roof on a stand that is for away fans doesn't appeal, and for that reason I'm out.

OK, thanks. What about existing members of the Trust? The website seems to imply that membership of the new scheme is the same as membership of the Trust? ("NEW TRUSTSTFC MEMBERSHIP LEVELS: RED, BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD"). If I'm just a "normal" member of the Trust do I automatically become a "RED" member under this new scheme? Do the different levels affect my membership in any other way (e.g. is still one member one vote) or is just about whether you get a badge or a T-shirt or whatever?

Well that's a nice balanced argument, thanks.

The idea is that when the Stratton Bank isn't used by away fans, ie currently most of the time, it could be used for families and kids, to get the next generation of fans through the gates. Obviously the Trust did this last year for a match, without the aid of a roof. BUT it was rather squeaky bum time in regards to the weather in the run up to that one.

Ta. Might be an idea also to suggest doing an email out to members to clarify this (if there's actually anything to clarify and it's not just me being a f**kwit - tbf, I know where the smart money is on that one!)

has the trust got the clubs approval for ticket incentives on that scale once the roof is on?

How would this be affected in any ground re-development, i.e. will it be ripped down and thrown away if / when a development comes along

At worst it will there a few years, as it's training ground first before any development. Then (although I don't know the design) it could be possibly be sold Ala the old shrivvy road stand to someone maybe.

There is a sort of point there though. It was probably done to death before but.

Well firstly its great that the Trust are trying to do something positive, and that it is seen as an ongoing venture, not just the roof.

My question about whether the club have committed to allowing regular (more than 2? a season) mass promotion on the scale of the school give-away last season was a real one. Or even like Ice Hockey - cheap/free tickets for a few schools every week (if the bank is not in use for away fans).

Because I want to get behind it, but I still can't really see the point (sorry). I've not gone through the Trust's red army website so apologies if its answered there. I'll look over the next few days.

The trusts aim is to use the bank when possible as a family area, complete with a community garden, kids play area etc.it would be unrealistic to have mass free promotions every week but the trust intend to build up family support through our schools system .for example the trust offered deals for a parent and child ticket last season for almost every game after Xmas in the corner of the Don Rogers and we regularly had 500 people in there.the trust now have a huge amount of schools signed up through Swindon and wilts and intend to steadily grow support through the coming seasons.of course the club own the stand and will have final say on use but up to now they have been brilliant towards the trust and are very supportive with all the ideas put to them.

If that is the plan, I still believe that schools outside wilts and Swindon need to be targeted. Areas like shrivenham, watchfield and faringdon. Oxford seem to advertise in these areas but are closer to Swindon.

Happy to distribute if needs be.

You are correct, the trust plans to eventually cover every school that could possible be interested in Swindon town.

How far out is it likely to go? There used to be big followings in Newbury and Thatcham for example, until the plastics got their act together.
