Title: Johnstone's Paint
Post by: Bob's Orange on Monday, August 3, 2015, 16:09:55
We didn't get a bye so face one of these mouth watering opponents -

Southern Section - West: AFC Wimbledon, Barnet, Bristol Rovers (bye awarded), Coventry City (bye awarded), Exeter City, Newport County, Oxofrd United (bye awarded), Plymouth Argyle, Portsmouth, Swindon Town, Wycombe Wanderers (bye awarded), Yeovil Town.

I pasted this directly from the JPT website, quite funny how they spelled the yellow team from down the road.

Wimbledon or Barnet away suits me.

All those byes. The Johnstone's Paint Trophy is a bit of a farce, isn't it?

Bit of a prob finding a Div 3 Southern side, so we're bound to get a Div 4 outfit.

Still a hope of facing the scum in one of the later rounds.

What's the basis on which the decision to award a bye is made?  Coventry aside, it seems that your chances are considerably boosted by being as tinpot as possible.  Johnstone's Tinpot Paint Pot Trophy.

They draw the byes first to leave8 teams in each section. Effectively when you win your first game you are still in the first round.

Yes and no. Its our most realistic chance of winning something/going to Wembley.

But I don't want to go to Wembley.

So, er. No I suppose.

I see.

What about the chances of getting a derby game, being in a very non-local league as we are now?

i love it, if we won it i think they should do a parade around swindon.

would be on a par of winning the ibiza cup

What Bristol Rovers or Oxford? No thanks I'd be more than happy to play neither again any time soon, not usually enjoyable match day experiences are they?!

In all seriousness this is why I'm nonplussed about the whole media ban thing. It'd only be crap like this we'd be getting from the local press anyway. As I've said previously if the local journalists hadn't kicked up a stink we probably wouldn't have even noticed....
I'd be pretty confident we've learnt more from today's one hour phone in than we would have from a months worth of the usual turgid preseason page fillers that are usually churned out.

Would only be of interest to me if it was Exeter or Barnet away for ground purposes. Missed Exeter twice due to the late call off a few years back and the frozen Boxing Day fixture. I travelled to the first and actually went to the ground as usual and was at my sister's 10 miles away in the snow at Christmas!

Yes I am a pedant.

I might be about to "Out Pedant" you. Click in the bottom right of google maps on the little ruler and it will change from km's to miles. Re measure and you will find it roughly ends up on the A35 near the hamlets of Whitchurch Canonicorum, Morcombelake or North Chideock. From this we can deduce that the original poster "Peter Venkelman" probably drinks in the Five Bells occasionally at Whitchurch Canonicorum. Sorry, I like to navigate by Pubs.......... You Win SG . I am obviously no good at this Pedant Mallarky. On Closer Inspection and removal of Fag Paper from under one corner of my monitor to straighten the Image and then positioning my start Pin in the exact position of the Centre of Centre Circle at Exeter City. Then Due East to exactly 30 Miles I got to the same spot as yourself. This changes everything as "PV" could also live in Chidecock in all reality as I suspect he's not living in the Woods and he might do the occasional Pub Crawl from the "Five Bells" to the "George Inn". TBH its a bit of a trek on road but all is possible across fields. Playing with the traffic also on the A35 after a few bevies could be quite treacherous. Umm, Hang on, I've just spotted a rather angry Looking Bull in one of Farmer Smiths Fields on the Satellite Image that you would need to traverse to avoid the fast running stream of noted treachery due to the historical drowning of two young brothers in 1682 in the Great Chidecock Floods.

I'm not convinced that Venkman lives 'exactly' 30 miles from Exeter's ground. I think it's more likely to be 'approximately' 30 miles. I think it's more likely he lives in one of those fields.

You are correct its 30 miles 400 yards but I was unaware I would find such pedantary TBH...who the fuck am I kidding, this is the TEF, 80% pedantary 24% bollocks 1% football ;)
