He was a farmer from the Wroughton area, and the reason it has taken so long, and will take longer, is because the executors have to sell all of his property, and they are trying to do it with planning permission so there is more £'s about!  Lifelong Town fan though!!  Good for him and I hope he is resting in peace.

Yep, friends of mine knew him. I never had the pleasure unfortunately. Fair play to the guy. A hell of a lot of money and hope it's spent as wisely as he would have wanted.

How does this work from an ownership standpoint?  If the money is used to develop a training ground, that is going to add to the value of the club, so if the club is sold at some point, the training ground will be part of that, and it will mean extra coffers for the selling party, and new owner will claim full ownership of the training ground, even though effectively, the fans/trust/Mr Eady own a portion of it..

I am wondering if the ring fencing put in place will mean that whatever it will be used for will remain (in some portion anyway) the property of the fans/trust/Mr Eady etc...  I am not sure if I put that in the right way or if it even makes sense..

As much as I graciously applaud Nigel Eady for what he has done, part of me thinks it would have been better placed in a high interest holding account as an emergency fund as a starter for a trust/fans buyout in the future if it is required (hopefully it won't).  Imagine the legacy that would have been left for Mr Eady, if the worst scenario happens and we are left without an owner, and the trust are able to purchase and run the club for a period of time (like Pompey/Exeter) because of what this man has done..

I am sure that somebody will point out this is a nonsensical idea and will provide a reason as to why this wouldn't happen.. but this is what was going around my head this morning..

Either way RIP Nigel, you will always be remembered by current town fans because of this final act of generosity...

Yes I remember that as well! I always thought he was in the horsy set but non the less what a gesture for the club.

I was chatting to an even older st holder than me at the Villa game and he knew Mr Eady and reminded me of the legacy. We were wondering if under this Fanzai malarkey we would ever know what happened to the money and lo and behold I read about in the Adver.!

Part-fund a new Town End or Bank?

I'd like to see it invested in the training ground personally but the main thing is that it is spent on whatever Mr Eady intended it for.

I understand it was meant to be for developing players, so the new training ground will be the one!  I'll bet Swindon Borough Council's ears will prick up when they know the cash is there to buy a training ground - they'll find some land then for that I'll bet!!

There was talk of the old Moredon Golf Course, which the Tories closed, and their corporate chums couldn't be persuaded to take on becasue it's err Moredon.  The chums preferring Broome Manor, because they can forget the golf (no profit) but build a hotel (plannig app) now in....doubtless in advance of a large housing estate down the line.

Apparently STFC rejected Moredon on the basis that it would need a prohibitively large security fence when we reach the Prem....because it's err Moredon.

I live opposite that golf course. loads of land there, with football pitches behind it and possibility to develop stuff with benefit of the school and most importantly I can go down on transfer deadline day and get the scoops 8)

I must confess I have not set foot in the 'Theatre of Nightmares' for in excess of 10 years now.

Advertising revenue - moving image would cost you more than a fixed board as an advertiser I would imagine.

They are not going to be able to do much with that, I can understand the big TV things like at Fleetwood which allow adverts but that seems a little limited to saying goal and showing those strange pacman like figures.

The game clock is quite handy. The Rolex one being a million years old and second halfs never kicking up on time mean it can be quite difficult knowing how long is left

Yes it is! But the sponser board should hide the old scoreboard now so shouldn't look so bad.

I think Man Utd have one just like it, as do/did Liverpool.

If it shows the score/how many minutes played then thats all it needs to do. And if we get a bit of money from the sponsors around it then even better

It's stopped on 45 and 90 so the ref isn't pressured by it

I want it to carry on after 90, so we can see how many Extra minutes have been played, instead of Jutty getting it wrong with his stupid Blake 7 watch.

Interesting that a scoreboard can be perceived as having such an effect. Who's supposed to be pressurised by putting up the wrong score?  :)
