Title: Favourite Pudding
Post by: Skinny Pete on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, 15:45:49
Although I love all sorts of sponge puddings, pies and crumbles, the one for me is a lemon meringue with cream.

Got one tonight!

Apart from the usual 'western' countries, do any of our foreign friends 'do' puds?

Those ice creams in Indian restaurants are gobbingly awful

Norwegian (and Swedish) puddings are lush

Anyway, sticky toffee pudding gets my vote

A proper Baklava is nice. None of this supermarket bollocks either. Although Lidl do ok Stollen and Panetone (I promise these aren't trialists!).

The poster above said about swedish pudding. Their Almondy type take on cheescake is pretty good. Another great sweet to try is Halva which depending where you are originates in Turkey or Greece.

Any British classics are always nice, Eton Mess, Summer Fruit Pudding, Tea Bread, Lardy Cake, Sticky Toffee Pudding with Clotted Cream, but a simple cake I love is Flourless Chocolate and Almond Cake. It just pips Lemon Drizzle and Victoria Sponge.

....and with that list, Mary Berry can eff right off. Ok, so I like cake.....

Custard is awesome

Asking me to choose my favourite pudding is a lot like asking me which is my favourite child.

It depends on what mood I'm in.

Depends on my mood, I like a good ice cream (although a good vanilla with smashed malteesers over it suits me fine). If we are talking proper puds then I'm in the sponge corner, treacle, jam, chocolate served hot with cold cream or custard.

Oh my god I found myself needing to have a serious think about this - I'm still not decided!
Although a day without ice cream is a sad day

Cheese and biscuits AFTER pudding not instead of in my opinion

This is why I'm 20 stone  :girlgiggle:

I'd say it's a dessert - if there is, indeed, any difference between a dessert and a pud.

Cheese and biscuits is something to have as a bit of a nibble with a glass or 2 of red.

It has no business at the dinner table - IMO

I would happily eat cheese at any time and any table

I'd eat cheese for starters, main course AND pudding.

I don't actually like desert. Went for a family meal not long ago and I had a crab terrine, whilst everyone else had fudge cake. The wife got the hump and called me a pikey!
