Good to see that it's not just us that haven't heard from the club

Maybe they have, but how many times have we heard clubs say "they haven't spoken to us" "he's going nowhere" etc. Then a week later he's off.

Proof in the pudding is, Francomb wasn't offered a new deal AFCW have just taken the year extension on him. Bit like us with Byrne. Insurance policy, so if he does go they'll get some dosh for him.

Are you his agent?

Not yet, but i'm working on it. Apparently i'm engineering Daniel Bentley, Mawson and Hogan Ephraims' moves to Town as well.

Disappointingly, no relative to the Town-supporting former National Hunt Champion Jockey.  Even spells his surname differently.  Bit of a give away.

No, he isn't i'm afraid. Shame. Would've been a nice link.

I used to teach George. Quality player and a good lad too. Be very happy if this rumour turned out to be true. Reckon he'd fit in with the club ethos very well.

This was my initial reckoning when i saw a few of his performances last season. Good utility midfielder and actually defends when employed on the wing.  I feel many are preparing bids for him and I hope that swindon go for him as he's worthy of top end L1 football and still developing.

My heart sinks whenever I hear the word 'utility' to describe a player.

My heart sinks whenever I hear the word 'utility' to describe a player.

Bar the GK, haven't most of last seasons squad been used as utilities in their respective thirds of the pitch?

Turnbull/stephens - CB/CDM

Byrne/Tofolo/B.Smith RB/LB/RWB/LWB/LW/RW

Rest of the midfielders were on rotation as vary CM/CDM/CAM/Holding Role/

Strikers were used as LWA/RWA/Target/No.10/False9 etc.

Maybe saying utility was a little skewed, but i mean players were utilised across their position. At an Elite level it's a hard skill to retain and keep that intensity. Obviously a lot of players are ok to play wherever the manager puts them. Refining it at an elite level is a different ball game. Most focus on becoming great in one position and not ok in several.  Although some players do manage it.

What was asked of our players (positional wise) was quite a risk which may be reason as to why we became exposed. I'm certain several of them will go on to be great "utility players". Someone like Francomb would be a great fit as he is experienced across the WB/W/CAM/CDM and could work a great partnership with B-O-O as unlike last season, Francomb covers you when you go bombing forward.

Also if Town do pursue Nicky Ajose again and the Francomb deal comes to light then Ajose/Obika should be aiming for a 20 goal season. Francomb would probably target 10 with his free kick and penalty taking abilities.
