Title: Gladwin...

Best player at the club. That is all.

Potentially, wouldn't say he's there yet.

Based on his last ten games or so, id say hes been easily our best player. He was a player earlier on in the season that frustrated but I think we all know now the lad is pure class.

On current form without doubt. Potential to get better too.

Not wanting to overhype him, but he is the League 1 Yaya Toure (the good Yaya, not the rubbish I-wanted-a-birthday-cake Yaya).

If you had to pick one player who's most likely to smash in a 35 yarder at Wembley it'd probably be him.

Make it happen.

Football fans tend to get excited quickly when players find sudden(ish) form. Let's not over hype him just yet.

I just hope his form continues until the seasons end.

Got him from Marlow, mind.

He's still far from the finished article, really needs to work on the defensive side of his game.

Correct, he cannot run or jump and for a big man that is a minus - but he has silky skills that bamboozle defenders.  Should be great next season after a full pre-season with us.

He's not the only one at the moment.

Could see some serious profit on him. If loungo is worth 4 mil gladwin is worth at least 1.

I wouldn't go as far as say he's the best player in the squad, but he and Hylton definitely make me look forward to see them play in a year or two...

Still a bit raw but the potential is clear to see, Power knows how to spot them

Unfortunately I cannot see Gladwin being here in one year from now let alone two..

Regardless of where they are. They're still going to be amazing footballers. I still enjoy watching Ritchie, Pritchard, Mason and Austin etc etc.

He has already had one with us

Certainly the best player of the last month. Hopefully this will stop the dickheads in the town end near me who demand him to be subbed every minute

There's no doubting his form over the last month, but you know the saying about form.....

Way too early to say if he's the real deal, he'll need next season to firmly establish this. Personally I think he's our most exciting prospect since Austin, but I don't agree that he's, currently, our best player. I'd put Luongo, Kasim, Byrne and Foderingham in front of him in terms of this season's performances.

he certainly has the tools to be a good player - good feet, reasonable pass, good shot.

he certainly seems to lack a bit in the defensive side, and the engine department.

if he can add consistency to his good attributes hell be a very good player for us. if he can address his weaknesses he'll be a very good player somewhere else in a higher league!!

worry is someone will gamble and buy his potential before we find out.

I wander how much last nights game put on Gladwins price tag? I've heard that West Brom are sniffing around Luongo. Id imagine they would have been more impressed with Kasim and Gladwin last night.

Pulis and Jackett there, both for Ben I'd imagine. Almost certainly next off the rank if we stay down.

If we sell Luongo we won't need to sell anyone else. Or am I being naive?

Back in the day, we'd have sold both for 20 Rothmans... But now it seems different. I expect we'll gets good price for Mass... So maybe no need to sell Gladwin... If we go up!

Absolute spot on.
Gave far too much space last night in his defensive duties.
However will improve and a fantastic find.
First goal what a strike.

Totally agree. The reason we conceeded 5 last night was because our midfield weren't tracking back effectively and were giving so much space to theirs.

But that's been the reason all season - so nothing is going to change at Wembley, unfortunately.

The question is: can we outscore PNE?

Title: Re: Gladwin...
Post by: Riddick on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, 19:34:47
not all season....since N Thompson got injured the problem has become worse.

A ball retention is worse as well, previously we defended by having 70% of the ball, our possession numbers have not hit that figure in some time now.

What I wonder is not for the first time we seemed to let them cross into the box by standing off their wide men and watching.

Is this a tactic that didn't pay off, or down to tiredness, or being charitable naivety?

Genuine question, as its happened quite a bit now.
---------------------------
Can we outscore Preston - if it was a game of world cup doubles against a neutral defence then maybe, we have 4 goalscoring forwards when they are firing.

Us against them, if its as open as yesterday then probably not. But its the final, anything can happen. Its not even always the best team that wins (see QPR), and there is nothing to say we couldn't be the best team. I think they are favourites, but that's all on paper.

I can see Gladwin filling a Lampard style role as hi can't track for toffee but is truly coming on leaps and bounds going forward.  A poor mans Waddle.  If he keeps this up he'll bring us as much as Luongo looks set to.
