Title: PUMA as our new kit supplier

I do like Adidas but as long as our shirts aren't as tight as Arsenal's I'll be happy...

In my generation the only way to wear the shirt, was to earn it by being good enough to play....sadly I wasn't.

What are you, the clothes police?

I wear mine on holiday. It got noticed when I was watching the Franchise game in a bar on the beach by a family from Swindon, who bizarrely supported West Ham.

So not good then....hopefully a bit better than the classic "sackcloth" kit of Kingy's time, or the falling apart thing of Diamand Mike and Kingswood... :)

RB, have you got a document about this? I wear mine to some games, play footy in it, wear it on holiday and wear it whenever I feel like it. But I'm 23, so I'm really hoping that means its OK for me... I don't want to get in trouble.

When is the cut-off point when you become an 'adult', I'd like to think I have another few years but I'd rather not take the chance.

I've got some puma shirts and shorts I use for running etc and they're fine. I'll go out on a limb and say "Quite nice" in fact. I'd say they're much of a muchness with adidas, Nike, Umbro etc.

EDIT: Just seen who posted the original so maybe the problem is they don't hold their resale value so well or something

The stuff they're showing now as for sale to the public will likely be the end of this or last season's lines - Powercat stuff is a couple of seasons old I believe. I'd expect the templates we choose from to be next season's so probably not on that website yet.

If they really are as tight as Arsenal's this might be the first season my boyfriend buys me one!

That Chesterfield one is horrible though. I never thought I'd call for something that isn't basic (without seemingly pointless stripes etc) but that just looks tinpot.

And that's the worst spelling of paint I've ever seen.

Not necessarily, but I'm sure he'd prefer to see his girlfriend in a brand new (and very tight) football shirt than the one I have now, which was made for men and is about 8 sizes too big.

Anyway, I can't say I wear it to games, but I wouldn't criticise those that do. I do find it a bit cringey when people have their names written on the back as adults but meh, it doesn't hurt anybody.

That's a lovely gift rather than something you're going to wear regularly isn't it :) the sort of thing you could put in a frame one day perhaps.

I suppose it's weirder to get an actual players name given that they so quickly become obsolete. Perhaps the worst being Ranger (who we knew would leave, only the reason was undetermined - HMP or LP?). You had to admire anyone who got a Miglioranzi shirt when you had to pay by the letter.

And as far as the whole 'own name on back of shirt' thing I will admit to having my own surname on the back of my most recent one but only because it was bought for me by the lads I played football with at university.

Fair enough. I quite like that (although I reserve the right to hate it once I see it "in the flesh" as it were), too many over-designed kits around these days.

It's been confirmed we're in Red.

As we're playing a team whose home kit is white it stands to reason we can't wear the white kit.

But this is football. On the day the ref'll probably decide we need to wear purple instead because the red clashes with his socks.

Sure, the intricate detailing is a nice touch; but it doesn't have much of a feeling of identity to it.

Hm, is it only me that finds a lot of the Puma templates a little too plain?

Sure, the intricate detailing is a nice touch; but it doesn't have much of a feeling of identity to it.
Here you go, plenty of "identity" in this little beaut:

No they didn't. We always had the same template as someone who played in blue. Think it was Chesterfield. Seriously, as Costanza says, this is how kits are done these days, even in the top flights - Premiership sides, La Liga sides, they all choose a template from the major manufacturers then just get to select from a few different colours and slap their own badges/ads on them. They don't even reserve the newest templates for PL sides any more

Our kits must be nicer than Barnsley's anyway as they're 3 quid more expensive, right across the board, so they're obviously much better ;)

The disadvantage of the north/south divide. The advantage being its worth a lot more than £3 not to live in Barnsley.

My comment on being disappointed wasn't that it was the same template, we all know how that works these days, more that its exactly the same colour too. Its not the end of the world, provided they don't have the same away kit colours too. Bring on the Puma derby.

I think theirs may be a lighter red if that helps?

Quite. One to bear in mind for everyone who's been moaning the design of our kits is "plain" or "boring" - be careful what you wish for.

I thought it was supposed to be water - presumably of the Gironde.

I thought the Girondin, were a political grouping during the Revolution, who ended up on the wrong end of the Terror.

Not quite the same colour as Lens' sange et or.....blood and gold, but could be a river of blood.

Ah, les Enoch de Bordeaux.

Didn't know the revolutionary reference - your historical knowledge is, as ever, impeccable. I assumed the club name simply derives from the river that runs through the city, and the name of the département of which Bordeaux is the administrative capital.

Not far away is the rugby town of Castres, whose players (and inhabitants) are known as Castrais - which sounds the same as the word for castrated. Hardly a rallying cry, you'd think.
