You reckon? Wow what a call that is, completely out of the blue. The bloke has played less than a round, leads the field by two and you think he has a good chance of winning it, you should get on TV with such wonderful insight.

Not having a go at you mate, but it's becoming a pet hate of mine the way pundits (not you) have become so reactionary to everything, team lose a match = disaster, they then win 2 and they're 'back'. Taking a long term view on anything seems to be a thing of the past. Must be connected to rolling news coverage where they try to big everything up 24/7.

Speith just bogeyed 15th. What a pile of shit he is.
No chance he can win.

Post by: JoeMezz on Thursday, April 9, 2015, 21:38:40
I take what you're saying janaage but I fancied Spieth to win before the tournament. I'm not just saying it because he's winning. Obviously with him leading by 3, maybe 2 shots now, it makes my opinion much more likely. I wasn't acting off impulse basically.

But yeah I get what you mean, that's probably part of the reason why managers are sacked left, right and centre. As you said, lose and it's a disaster, win a couple of consecutive games and you're the best manager going.

I think Twitter doesn't help, years ago you'd get results coming in and people would take time to get the info together to react. Now half way through a first half Twitter can be going mental, sky pundits can be giving opinion after opinion and that all helps Stoke the fire.

Spieth is the kiddy and those on here who are Facebooks friends or Twitter followers will testify that I put the fucker up at the start of the week.

Will win more majors than Rory and the paddy cunt has a head start of 4...

If he maintains this form over 4 rounds he will have had the greatest masters ever. He's already breaking records so let's see what happens. They'll make the greeens quicker today so it will sort many of them out.

Think Spieth might do this now. All seriousness though, his all round game has been superb but his putting has been something else. He was 3 when Tiger won his first Masters.

Starting an injured player who lets his man score is a joke. 3 at the back is the biggest lesson though. This has to end! Forwards were abysmal(Smith is a cart horse) All the fears and frailties were realised.
For those who went,we never noticed you. Wasted your time and money.
Autos or nothing thank you very much. Won't take 15k if it is the same next season

Seems this is the post, that caused Arriba to be banned, and subsequently delete his account. He wouldn't go into the finer details.

Shame he feels driven away and unlikely to return any time soon.

I don't agree with some of his post BTW. So what.

What wanker banned me from the tef then? Name calling too. Glad I'm out if that's how it's going to be

Thought most of his post was spot on esp the last bit
Does seem draconian though banning for that, unless more to it

well there are always two sides, it may have been done in jest I suppose, or for other reasons. He said it got lifted but he didn't get a response to his asking why and was a bit hacked off hence delayering his account  - a bit of clarification/telling him why would have saved losing a poster.

there is a little bit more but I would rather a mod cleared it up than carry on.

Mods being uncharacteristically shy. Closing ranks?

Doubt it. I'm not sure what anyone other mod's feelings are, but personally I stopped bothering to justify anything along time ago. We used to ban then they'd be mass outrage. Then we stopped banning and I'd get pms requesting bans, I suspect other mods did too.

It's completely futile trying to justify anything, or discuss it by committee - you simply can't please all the people all the time.

Title: Re: US Masters

I can see mods are between a rock and a hard place, it would be good to confirm the post I quoted wasn't the reason for the ban though. We are talking about an established member here, not a Mickey Hazard WUM..

Or you can approve his pending join request, and we can discuss it like adults with words from the horses mouth.

Quite. Mods do as they like, but the TEF could do without losing regular posters if it was over some pointless ban.

Title: Re: US Masters
Post by: Arriba on Monday, June 22, 2015, 20:40:50
Hi. As I've had some messages and have seen the discussion on here I thought I'd better give my perception of it.

The day after the play off final I tried to log in and was greeted by this message.

"Sorry arriba, you are banned from using this forum!
We won't notice you now either. Come back when you're less of a cretin"

From that I concluded that I had been given this ban due to the comment batch quoted earlier.
I had no warning, bust up, row, anything with any moderator. There has been no correspondence from any of them since. No explanation or anything.
The offending post was misconstrued and I accepted at the time that I understood how it could appear and apologised.
I didn't mean to insult or offend our fans who went.

I think a moderator was offended by my comment and banned me for it. I can't think of another reason.

After a week the ban was lifted but I had already chosen to remove my account.
I have posted on this forum for nearly 10 years and I wasn't going to give the moderator concerned the opportunity to ban me on a whim over fuck all again. The naughty step isn't for me I'm afraid.
When you have moderators telling fans to fuck off who wish us well and the general levels of abuse that are the norm I don't understand how my comments justified banning. I won't tell people how to moderate a site but it's not for me anymore like this.

I've typed this quickly and I have to drive now so hope it makes sense. all the best

As I said, it would be good to get a bit of clarification, even if its directly to Arriba with a "not it wasn't that" for the rest of us.

I know I'm a glass half empty kind of guy, I know that annoys several people, but if that kind of thing is unacceptable I'd best know now as I'm unlikely to change the way I am.

I assume its not the case, else I'd have been banned long ago.

Ironically, nobody noticed he was gone for two months.

I don't generally like banning people, but I can see why someone might have in the heat of the moment reading that. That said, I wish long term posters would stop deleting their accounts as it's starting to make my post count and time spent online look a bit sadder than I'm okay with.

Hey! I did it once and that was four years ago.

1. Because I had a big gig and was locking down on procrastination (which worked, I nailed that gig)
2. Because then I could then return and nobody know who I was (like normal internet accounts)

The latter was a spectacular failure.

Accepted. You pulled me up on it at the time. I posted all my thoughts quickly and worded it badly. I apologised at the time as it came across wrongly. Why anyone would still take offence after that I don't know? Call me a cunt and have a debate, what the tef has been about for years. Not a ban with that snidey message for when I next went to log in. Childish, excessive and a cop out imo.

Ironically, nobody noticed he was gone for two months.

Sorry to be pedantic but it's a month. 😝 People did notice but contacted me directly. I think the same goes for quite a few others who no longer post on here. Been little- no mention of a few of the old guard.

That comment from Arriba fucked me off after defeat but not enough to even have an argument, let alone want him banned. Some people take defeat badly, some are more philosophical. It's life.

At the risk of opening myself up to a ban, I'd say whoever banned him should come clean and justify his/her actions.

Title: Re: US Masters
Post by: Pax Romana on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, 08:16:52
I was one of the ones who pushed back on Arriba's remark.  Like everyone else I was pissed off at yet another abject Wembley defeat and the last thing I needed was some wanker who didn't go telling those of us who did that we weren't noticed.

It never occurred to me that he should get banned for it at the time, let alone after he put his hands up afterwards.  Bizarre!

The "we never noticed he was gone anyway" post was actually a far more shitty remark but not expecting whoever wrote it to get banned.

I put a lot of effort into this post and endeavoured to phrase it in a thoughtful and courteous manner which recognises and respects fellow posters of all political persuasions and sexual orientations.  If I have caused anyone any offence it was completely inadvertent and I apologise profusely.  Except of course if you have a vowel or a consonant in your name in which case you're a cunt and can fuck off.

Credit to Arriba for coming back and explaining.

That was badly judged and badly timed but as already said no need for a ban, a knee-capping would've done  ;D.

In my opinion time spent following your team to Wembley is never waste of time.
