Title: Ken Chapman
Post by: ronnie21 on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, 18:50:15
Former chairman Ken Chapman has died.  Wasn't he in charge when Glen Hoddle was appointed?

Don't think so. Ray Hardman was top man back then wasn't he? Never heard of Ken Chapman.

Ken Chapman was senior partner in a firm of architects (Chapman Warren).  Was brought in, as I remember, by Sir Seton.  Was definitely chairman for a while.

Yeah, i remember him in charge, not for too long but he definately was chairman for a bit.

Doing a google brings up the following - he had a collection of over 1000 model Jaguar cars

He was brought in after the 90 relegation and the departure of Honest Bri and associates, at the start of the final Ossie season. He was Chairman, but from memory a short tenure, before Ray Hardman took it on by the start of 92/93

Unfortunately, I don't have the exact dates to hand, but either way, Peter Day the CEO, who knew Hoddle from Spurs, was credited with being the man who got Glenn to the CG...

Wasn't it Ray Hardman as Chairman who said the immoral line 'Have you got a minute John' when Gorman was on his way out when Hoddle quit

It was a huge fucking mistake but I don't think it was immoral....

I'm sure Ronnie will be delighted to see that the Adver have got their facts wrong, in their story about Ken....

More immortal but agree a sentimental, emotive mistake

That is horrific fact gathering.  The man on the Clapham omnibus will be shaking his head, let alone Swindon people.
