Title: Noisey neighbours along the M4 enjoying our pain
Post by: yogi bear on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, 20:02:28
The noisey neighbours down the M4 are having a field day on obit referring to us as swindle at it again, nearly bankrupt, suggesting that we are deducted 10 points and having to sell our best players in January. They must be obsessed with stfc!

I shrug my shoulders.

Was this really worthy of a thread of it's own?

I've just had a glance, the said thread is not *that* bad considering some of OTIB's comments post-Swindon Town 1-0 Bristol City (2014).

It's amazing!

According to Brizzle we have no money, shit crowds, owe money, having to sell players and yet . . .

. . . despite their club record number of undefeated games, 12,000 crowds, a loaded fan/owner

WE ARE 1 POINT BEHIND THEM

Somewhere in a field in Bristhole there are several 6 fingered inbreds plucking on a banjo and laughing.

This is about as funny as it is when another teams fans say the same to us.

Just an idle thought about hanging a banner from one of the M4 bridges that says "Ha, Ha, Ha, from all @ STFC" as a nice home coming for the shitty fans if they lose at the pikey's today.

Bit overkill for a league game.

If they had blown promotion/playoffs on the other hand..

Maybe, but considering their outpourings towards us since we beat them fair and square it seemed appropriate. I like I said, an idle thought.

I honestly wouldnt give a shit if they won the league by 50 points and we went up via the playoffs. I'd just be buzzing we got up!

Long way to go anyway.

Title: Re: Noisey neighbours along the M4 enjoying our pain

I'd much rather they went up than the Franchise to be honest. If they won the league and we were in second I honestly wouldn't give a shit about their title, the fact that this team had got us promted would be such a fantastic achievement it would eclipse any local point scoring in my mind.

Oh and that bridge idea would be the most embarrassing act of football fandom since their lot started reporting Nathan T to the police

Shit idea.

For a team that hates us and constantly refer to swindon as a mickey mouse club waiting to go into administration next month as well as predicting we will have to sell our best players,  they certainly mention us a lot on their website and have now set up a thread hoping that fleetwood beat us next week as they are scared that we will take their top spot away from them

Usually about now for about 5-6 hours until my boy wakes up. I'll often get an hour or two in the day when/if he has a nap. (I'm currently a house-father)

I should really go to bed sooner, but I just love the peace and quiet.

Why is everyone so surprised that we are top of mind at the moment for Bristol City fans ?

We are local rivals, and we are threatening their position at the top of the league - why wouldn't we be praying on their minds a bit ?

I think it's mostly to do with how overly dismissive many of their fans are in reference to there being a 'local rivalry'... Plus their hyperbolic 48+ hours after we beat them.

Although these sort of threads are no different to what they post on OTIB about us, I do like the fact that we are spoiling their fun a wee bit.

Nice genuine comments sir not like the rest of the crap on here. I'm only highlighting the fact that they are concerned about us yet you would think some of the above comments were from disgruntled city fans

I think the last game proved that City is a "proper derby game" albeit not our main rivals. Looking forward to the return fixture at AG. Wouldnt it be a top game if we are both still in the top two.

I agree it would be great if we were top two and that we beat them at Ashton gate. One thing for sure it's going to,be very hostile and not for the faint hearted

I think city & rovers see us as rivals but only at the county ground as they like to bring big numbers here and we don't do the same at their place. Sheer hatred it's Oxford all the way from both sides but years ago it was Pompey at the county ground as well gillingham home and away

Let's hope so as their already worried that it will be on sky and maybe played in the evening, also it would be humiliating for them getting beat with a national audience !

And just as an insight to the idiocy of some City fans who would rather the Fleetwood game was called off - thus preserving their top of the table position - than us playing without Kasim/Luongo/Nat Thompson and thereby giving Fleetwood a supposed better chance of beating us.

We'd like the game off, too!

some absolute classics on OTIB

"We are in a completely different place to our 3 main rivals IMO.

Swindon have a major decision too make, keep their squad intact and pray for promotion and possibly risk another administration if they fail or sell at top prices to survive for at least another season" #clutchingatstraws

They seem to conveniently forget the fact that they spend way above their means and lose nigh on £10m a season at the moment. Just because their benefactor is ok to write this off every season does not make them well run.

The FFP rules are not strict enough and there are too many loopholes. Be interesting to see how Cotterill would do on our budget. I suspect they would not be top of the league for sure.

League rules state 2000 or 10% of capacity if 2000 not doable ( think their capacity is currently around 13k )
Though as they are a stand down we will probably be able to bend that  ::)

This one

34.2.1 Each Club must make provision for at least 2,000 visiting supporters at every home match or such number as represents 10% of the Club’s certified capacity, if less than 2,000. The Executive may, on the prior written application of a Club, suspend this Regulation or reduce the figure either for a particular League Match or for a period of time.
