Title: Too many news items?

As the poll. Get voting and I'll go with the majority.

But you can only have one option....as Ken Livingstone said "if democracy changed anything it would be abolished"

Not without installing forum mods. It may be an option, I'll ask Barry.

Actually, don't really want any of those options. I'm glad to have the new feeds, just a question of organising them to avoid TEF topics disappearing if they haven't been viewed within 12 hours. Like others, one of the things I like best about the TEF is that I don't really bother looking anywhere else for news any more. The Monkey allows me to cherry-pick the rare items of real news from the media, and I'm pleased to have a link to the Washbag as I often think I should go there more often.

If you techie types can't sort out a Monkey sub-menu to see new headlines at a click, then as a last resort, should we make the Monkey just a single thread with links to the daily feeds?

Looking into this option now, Red Frog.

There have been comments about how there is too much local media coverage on Swindon and now the forum is full of it. As above, a section to go for latest news items would be ideal. Those that want can read it. The majority of news items get no forum comments which takes away the point of needing them

This

Therefore please implement the sub-folder for all news links if practicable.  That would be fantastic.

I still prefer the Adver...their fucking awful spelling almost makes it spoof-like.

Looks like the majority like the extra news links so they're staying.

However, taking the comments onboard, I will continue to look for ways to get these out of the recent topics feed. Thanks all.

Why is this thread in here twice?

Re the subject,  I think there is too much news clutter on here plus the stories get repeated.

:doh:Threads have been duplicated all over the shop. The townend used to be a tidy little place to browse

I'm playing around with some options to get you moaning cunts a tidier layout. Unfortunately there may be a couple of fuck ups along the way.

Oh and well done to the mod who added the "go up" and "go down" buttons. Can now use my scrolling finger for other things.

I could only vote to get rid of 1 option. I'd get rid of most of it. Clogged up with shit people won't read.

The true face of tech support. Are you one of those helpdesk types who codes their callers "PICNIC"?

Used to be. I'm 3rd line support these days, concentrate on infrastructure and security so luckily I don't have to deal with customers directly. Good thing too, I fucking hate people.

The only one I know from the 80's/90's was drop the dead donkey.

"Papers, news news,  papers, news news, give us your daily views...."

Hot Metal?  Had Robert Hardy, Richard Wilson and Geoffrey Palmer in. The paper was called The Crucible.

There are. The topic will not flag new posts you have to go find them.

So if I go to this thread for The Washbag (http://thetownend.com/index.php?topic=55212.msg1288947#msg1288947), the latest article is today.

Likewise The Adver Feed (http://thetownend.com/index.php?topic=55209.0) has all the stories from today.

Please don't. I've asked the web people to fix that. I'll nudge them again tomorrow.

loved the episdoe when they added wobble vision to page three....like 3d specs that you had to jiggle up and down! excellent..

Was just thinking the same. Didn't they have to pull it (oo err) because people got headaches.

Also remember an episode where one of the hacks broke in to a stars bedroom, then stuck pins in the condoms on the side of the bed. Someone was coming so he hid in the wardrobe, then another hack appeared, put pins in the condoms....

Never saw it repeated anywhere after original airing.

I'm not sure they understand what a platitude is:

Quote from: Adver
Wilson expressed plenty of platitudes for the football Cooper’s side are playing, but has his doubts whether it can be maintained over the full course of the season.

Or maybe they do and Wilson was being a sarcy cunt.

I have no doubt Wilson can maintain Barnsley's form until the end of the season.
