Title: Chippenham Half Marathon - Just Giving.
Post by: Saxondale on Thursday, August 28, 2014, 09:33:52
Morning.

Im doing this one for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research. I know its only a half and Im not promising to pour water over my head (though I probably will) but if anyone could see there way clear to bunging a bit of money to this cause Id be extremely grateful.  My nephew has just finally been given the all clear after a five year battle with leukaemia (I am having my own battle spelling leukaemia) which he was diagnosed with when he was 5.

This lot are doing great work trying to find a cure.  So please help if you can.

Thanks

Great news for your nephew, hope that it for them. Will try and donate later.

See you at the half. good luck. The bit past the Langley Tap pub (11ish miles) and the slope up Hill Corner Road are real shits when tired :)

Batch - Usual route is around chippenham.

From lowden, up the path past St Marys school, straight over bath road in to charter road, through over avenue la fleche to the back of town left at where diggers used to be right past the rosie up london road to the roundabout right at the top, back into pewsham through the centre, round webbington road back to the roundabout at the top of avenue la fleche.

Down the butts to baydons lane over the bridge into the monkton park estate, round to the cycle path, up the little path to cocklebury lane, hill corner road, up malmesbury road left into hardenhuish lane, down onto hungerdown lane, right at the kingfisher, around the queens crescent area a bit, back out to hungerdown lane to the pheasant, down bath road back into lowden.

Thats about 10 miles.  When Ive done thirteeen Ive gone over the bridge over the ring road and along the lanes to corsham and back or just gone from home to calne along the cycle path and back.

Cool. Thanks for that, looking for a few alternatives of around 10 miles so I'll work out where that all is ( work backs on to Hill Corner Road).

Done it :)

Chip time was 1hr 52 02, which will do. First 10 went swimmingly. Miles 11 and 12 were horrible. Mile 13 is thankfully down hill :)

No wonder I didnt see you.  2.21.  Mind you, Im 43, have been running for a year and 2 years ago I was 18 and a half stone.  Completing it, despite being outside the 2.10 Ive done it in before is a massive achievement for me.

So 1800 entrants. 1 person managed to get confused by the change to grass for the home stretch and also be baffled by the sudden amount of people shouting encouragement. Resulting in a spectacular 'oops, where's the floor, oh shit this isn't going to be good, oh there's the floor it's on my face, now where are my glasses' moment.

Who do you think thats might have been? And who's wife managed to get a lovely photo of it? Which will be on line later.....

And my nips were fine into I submerged them in water in the bath.  Christ that stung.

Anyway, current total for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research is 1053.22 + 253.75 gift aid so Im overjoyed at that.

I will be posting pictures and thanks, including a picture of me on my arse, later.

Thanks All.

So this fat bloke got a bit fitter,

Did a half marathon,

But not before

Falling on his arse in the finishing straight.  Like a complete twat

But more importantly, we've raised £1429.47 inclusive of gift aid at this point.  Thanks to Axs, Batch, Ron Dodgers, SY, Si Pie and the other person who donated who's forum name I dont know, and anyone else who donated.

Everyone of my sportscam pics looks like im in agony.  Which is strange as I was so cool and calm really.

Im just glad they missed my falling on mi arse moment as I may have had to buy sd card as well just to make sure no one saw it.
