This game is the same week as the Nato summit in Newport so expect this game to be rearranged

Partly being as the city is already on lock down and the police will be using their ground as a security Base for that week.

All the schools in Newport are closed for the whole week,  roads shut off already,  it's quite extreme,  the city will come to a standstill..

Is anyone planning on getting the train to this one from Swindon? Last direct train home is at 21:39, failing that it's 21.43 with a change and wait at Temple Meads - Could be a bit tight if game finishes/goes to pens...

I'll be getting the last train home. But I'll be getting off in Bath. It's the same train. Probably getting a train to Newport pretty much straight from work at 17:30 too.

I haven't been there before. How far is it from the station? Google Maps says it's a 40 minute walk but The Football Ground Guide says "quarter of a mile" and "short walk".

If it goes to pens it will end around 22:00 leaving 18 minutes for the last train to Bath...

We better hope Town annihilate them.

I went to a game there last season.  It's a good 10-15 minute walk from the station. It's more like half to three quarters of a mile to reach the away entrance as it's on the far side.

Their fans don't seem too impressed with the prices either...they think the gate will be below 1,500 with only 200 of our fans there.

I'd guess at at least 400 from us, mainly because it's a new ground. The prices are steep for a JPT first round though.

Ah, the glorious memories of living in Swansea and cycling through the town centre to open up shop at roughly the same time to see the chaps already sat in Wetherspoons with their second pint of the day. Magical times.

Although a pint of guinness with a fry up is actually a rather smashing way to start the morning.

Ah, that is a bit more my way! My friend from work that I'm dragging to the Newport game lives in Box but I think the Quarryman's Arms is her local. My 'local' is between the Hobgoblin or due to who I drink with, a range of cocktail bars in Bath. They all sell Amstell so I'm usually OK  :pint:

Should do. Unless it goes to pens... then it'll be close. In that case, we'll probably try and blag a lift from Town fans that have driven or blag some seats in the SAS coaches (not that I think this will work ;)). Worst comes to the worst, a travel-lodge or something...

Can't make this one either now, have to be up at 6am for a train to London Wednesday morning - would probably have done it on the train but due to time back no chance. Orient I think we'll take a good 1200+ (only trip to London right now unless we draw someone in the cup).

Make that 402! Just purchased Newport tickets for me and the old man. Speaking to Jason in the club shop/ticket office, there are seats left behind the goal, it's just that STFC have sold all of the behind the goal tickets that Newport County sent us. Should be a good turnout, 550-600 ish.

Belford for Foderingham, Reeves for Kasim (suspended) and Williams for M.Smith or Obika will be the only changes i reckon. STFC looking to take this competition very seriously again.

If Rossi-Branco and Stephens are both unfit though, I'll be feeling less confident with Josh Lelan in the back 3... COYR!

That's good to hear. My ticket numbers behind the goal are Row C Seat 1 and Row C Seat 2... So I guess it'll be a free-for-all to some extent (Or I hope it is for my sake), not that we'll be sitting down at all.

 I remember a game in the dark Sturrock days of Div 4, when we went to Barnet and had more away fans than  home fans...of course we still lost, to a goal by one of the Allen clan.  Not sure if he ever scored v anyone else or even made more than a handful of appearances.

 Not sure how many Newport get these days, but one of the reasons why they nearly sunk without trace was historically poor gates at Somerton Park...hopefully there'll be more home fans than away.

They are averaging about 2,700 ish this season so far, so a lot lower than they used to get at Somerton Park.

The record cup attendance at Rodney Parade is only 2,849 vs. Portsmouth back in November.

With Yaser out as well, and Gladwin still Injured, looking a bit thin in midfield, wonder If he'll bring lelan in at the back and use Stephens as a holding player. otherwise a formation change looks likely.

Given that gates in the Paint Pot are generally well down on league games, and supposing they get about 2500 home fans for league games, you'd imagine 1200 or so home fans will turn up. Hopefully they'll be playing a few fringe players too.

Bloody hell the dearest ticket at Newport for lg2 games is £22  :eek: so no wonder attendance's are shit
