Title: Old Albums
Post by: kerry red on Saturday, July 19, 2014, 17:28:57
Crappy weather today so I ended up sorting through my old vinyl in the attic.

Found some excellent old stuff plus some embarrassing shite.

The good stuff:

Cherry Red - Groundhogs
Physical Grafitti - Led Zep
Rory Gallagher Live in Cork - my absolute favourite

The embarrassing stuff:

The Secret Life of Plants - Stevie Wonder
Diamond Lives - Sade
Fragile - Yes

About to chuck out an old hi-Fi earlier, luckily I checked the multi CD player, found

Ill Communication - beastie boys
And
Recurring Dream - Crowded House

Love both of those albums.

It has been a Carter USM summer for me!

Cycling along singing 'After The Watershed' and chuckling away today.

Thanks for reminding me of Carter USM. They sort of passed me by in the 90s, so I've just bought 30 Something and the Love Album. Anything else unmissable I should get?

101 Damnations was their first album and is decent IMO.

If you get 'You Fat Bastard - The Anthology' it has all their best stuff on. Am listening to a couple of their live ones at the moment.

Thx - wiki says they're planning to do their last ever concert in November this year in Brixton. Know if that's happening?

When i was clearing out a room at my parents i found an old copy of Max Romeo - Chase the devil but unfortunatly it is too scratched to play. I love that song, it is the one that the prodigy sampled on "out of space"

I'm no expert on what Stevie Wonder songs are on what album, etc. but surely a Stevie Wonder record can't be anything other than cool as fuck can it?

Having spent 3 weeks touring with him I have to say its mostly bloody excellent but one thing that pissed me off was a very short version of the superb 'Living for the city' being segued into a far too long version of 'Ebony and Ivory'.

Still 2 and a half hours, cant be all gold.

Not so much an old album but picked up Suggs the selection up for a fiver from asda, it has some brilliant old songs on there as well as some recent ones as well.
