Title: Lee Power Q&A
Post by: Costanza on Monday, July 7, 2014, 15:55:03
A request:

I'm currently en route to the Peoples Republic of Halifax on the train and am therefore unable to listen to this evenings Q&A with Lee Power. If anyone could provide updates and/or a Paolo Di Canio-era TEF summary then that would be super appreciated.

Yours hopefully,

He who is off to Halifax.

Can someone ask him about that ?£2m bequest to the club and when it will see the light of day?

Jed pretended to put planning permission in for the bank and stole it after satisfying the trustees with an architects design on the back of a napkin.

LP ' Substantial amount of money 'disappeared from the club'

I wonder who took that...

What is substantial in this context?

Upwards of £500,000?

Pretty mundane stuff on the talk in TBH but he appears to be fairly forthright to me.

Millwall fan, eh?

Not sure what to make about his 'friend' at Feltham

I expect he can't say due to legal ongoings

He did say we are definitely playing 2 up top this season.  That will help Smith I would imagine.

Didn't hear the broadcast, what was said about Feltham?

And did anyone ask about Agombar?

I knew there was something that was novel having listened to the whole thing....we'll be just like Atletico Madrid

Smith and Williams up top might work out quite nicely.

Is Williams still out injured or is he training again?

Cooper said on Friday he's training, is working very hard and has done every session so far, so fingers crossed.

I'm sure a disappointing pre season will put you right.

Or is it the other way around, good preseason= bad season?

Think could be quite a successful season, but got to keep Thompsons, Luongo and Wes. Strong looking midfield, sign a couple of defenders and maybe another striker/forward player, could be good.
Be interesting to see what Gladwin is like with full pre-season under his belt. Looked raw but promising at times last season.

With the midfielders we have we have to be playing a 3-5-2 if not then can't see Kasim playing alot

I think he will definately be playing 3-5-2 with Kasim in the defensive holding role, we do need someone to come in as wingback on the left though to fill in where Jay Mac was.

Please not Jamie Reckord though, I have a feeling it will be a loanee.

Byrne would play on the left like he did several times last season.

I know that many don't like Byrne (often for many people in the DRS before kick off things appear his fault, the weather the pathetic PA system etc) however I think he could be a very able wingback, he certainly has the energy.

Team wise, the thing I thought would be tricky, is these 'footballing centre backs' he was talking about yesterday. Assuming we play 3 5 3 we are going to need 3 off them, Jack Stephens would hopefully be one. Other than that the team doesn't look terrible

                                                   Wes
                                 Stephens?     CB?        CB?

 N Thompson                                   Kasim                       Byrne

                                Luongo                       L Thompson

                               Williams                       Smith

The concern will be the strength in depth if we can only bring in 3/4 players. Are these 3/4 permanent players on top of loanees, or 3/4 in total? If we only bring 4 players surely we are going to have a squad of about 20 players.

You are right though, at the moment its not a bad side. I was thinking about Coventry this morning, they are literally going to have a brand new first team this season after losing a lot of players. We at least have the nucleus of a reasonably settled first team (centre backs not included)

Think Branco may be in there on the right.

Is Reis still with us?

We were told a while back that it would be a 20 man squad.....

Power said that N Thompson could be used at the back....which would presumably mean Bartram at rwb. (He did get a new contract, or did I imagine that?)

Reis and Agombar I suspect are Jed clones used for money laundering.

Think Reis is being looked at by Sarfend.

Should use Barthram more - he always looked decent to me when he played.

Branco blowis hot and cold but worth preserving with.

So a couple of CBs, striker and, presumably another GK if Belford is off on loan.

Looks good to me

I did hear a rumour that two players hadn't showed up at the start of pre-season, Mass was excused for a rest after the world cup and Reis hadn't appeared - more surgery perhaps?

Branco has raw potential, but I think would need someone to talk him through games, much as Ady Williams used to do with a young Jeril.

So we need a footballing centre back, who's experienced enough to lead other players, but can play the ball out and is still young enough that he doesn't become Ward mark II mid season.

No, can't see that bit of recruitment being costly at all..

Cooper confirmed Mass being given more time off on BBC Wilts on Friday, no mention of Reis though.

One other thing that came out was the fact that we said it was impossible to insure TAH so if he had broken down again we would have copped for a large bill for surgery etc.  Carlisle have taken that gamble apparently!

Less concerned about Harry than Tommy. In fact the only reason for being at all bothered whether Harry is still on the payroll is as an indication of whether Agombar Sr is still involved

Not just a watch
