Title: Auto Electrician
Post by: jonny72 on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, 16:33:44
Can anyone recommend a decent auto electrician in Swindon?

Problem with the ABS on my Z3 that needs looking at.

He can fix the unfixable, but he can get expensive. Agree on a price, especially if he takes the car back to his workshop.

Do you work in a salon or is it home visits only?  :sherlock:

I like the way you dropped Z3 in there, as if it's some sort of supercar, when you could have just said a problem with your ABS.

Don't forget the shitty stick to help fight the birds off.

First thing I thought of as well, however I knew you would be able to put it in a more 'eloquent' way and you didn't disappoint!

Why do they have to be an auto electrician? Couldn't any garage diagnose and fix the problem?

More to the point, what is the problem? I'd make sure the sensors are clean and connected properly before anything else.

Seems to be a common fault on a Z3 - ABS and traction warning lights coming on together intermittently. I've got the diagnostic codes but they don't help much, says it's the pump motor but according to the interweb it's just as likely to be the control unit of or the sensors. Thought a specialist would find and fix the real cause quicker and cheaper than a garage.

Seeing as MOT is due I decided to leave it to the garage to sort it all out, plus they use Auto Electrix for this stuff anyway so they'll end up working on it. Had a number of recommendations for them - not just on here.

I've got the same problem with my 325.

It is the sensor. Had it fixed a while ago and it was fine for months but it came back on this week.

I just ignore the fucking thing now. I'll wait til the next service and get it sorted then

Do you reckon an auto electrician will be able to tell me why my Tornado won't go past Mach 1?

You could try leaving the caravan off.

My concorde has a horrible knocking sound coming from the rightmost engine.

More importantly though, all its cup holders are intact and pretty fucking great.

Put a bit of black tape over the warning light .
Worked on the Vectra, after 10 months or so the bulb blew.
Never felt the need for abs.
Drive sensibly, look ahead and if the need arises use the cadence braking method.

I've had an abs light on for six months,  it's only the fucking sensor that's broke. The car is fine.

How on earth did we manage without Abs in the olden days.
My first car was a Vauxhall Viva with drum brakes and cross-ply tyres .
