It appears to be a misunderstanding to me.

They knew Ranger was going to be playing since Thursday, but wanted to keep it under wraps to prevent Peterborough from being aware. Sam undid this (rightly or wrongly is another argument) by announcing it before teams were announced, thus giving Peterborough time to make changes and prepare for the different threat.

In no way does it justify this action, but I can understand the emotion. I'll imagine all will be back to normal by the end of the month anyway.

I recall years back when Plymuff had a similar falling out between their chairman McCauley, and the local rag. The rag hired a cherry picker so that the hack could see the game and write up his reports...although in this case it seems Sam isn't banned from the ground....yet. :)

I can understand the Club's position on this, Peterborough may well have been following Sam on Twitter but not the fan who posted the photo or Rangers instagram, so therefore the only way they would have seen this information before the team sheets would be through Sam tweeting about it. If he'd had just waited until the teamsheets were out then there wouldn't have been a problem.

This sort of reaction from an owner always looks unbelievably tinpot, and banning the Adver for something that the club's comms fucked up is just petty. Owners often forget how important the local press are in building relations between club and fan base, and Sam has generally been pretty respectful of the delicate balance between scoop and discretion. Who was the last Town fan in his role?

I totally agree. Whilst the tweet may have given Peterborough a potential advantage the source of the problem lays with STFC, who shouldn't have allowed anyone to see the shirt therefore broadcast the message.

FWIW I think the only ones to blame here are STFC what do they expect these days with social media a fan see's Rangers shirt and of course he will 'tweet' or 'facebook' the fact as it will be a shock to everyone, and Sam being a journo would be expected to confirm what he knows as it is then out on the public domain.

THE Club's actions to place an embargo on the Swindon Advertiser was as a result of a series of issues with the newspaper of which the Nile Ranger incident was the most recent.

The restriction on the Swindon Advertiser covering fixtures is in effect for home matches only, the first of which is at the end of this month.

The Club feels it has acted in the best interests of Swindon Town and its supporters.

However, the Club acknowledges that supporters do need a conduit and, as such, confirm that they will be meeting with Gary Lawrence, the Group Editor of the Swindon Advertiser on Monday to resolve our differences and to rebuild trust between both parties.

The Club would like to reiterate that this decision has been made with supporters in mind and would like to thank all supporters for their continued backing.

I think that Power is forgetting that Sam is a journalist and that is his job, and by his good (mis)fortune is also a fan, he is there to get the 'scoops' and 'exclusives' and to also report the not so glamorous goings on at the club, he is not there to be Power's lap dog and only publish what they / he tells him to write about.

He mentions about Power and how he blown all his money during his career and was in serious debt, then the next time he sees him, he's a director/chairman of football clubs.
Didn't go into any more detail or how he did it, just saying he was surprise about it.
